Bhuj

Experiential journeys will make you a storyteller
About Bhuj
Founded in 1510 by Rao Hamir, the city of Bhuj is one of the best culturally rich places to visit in Gujarat. The city is located in the Kutch region of the state and was once the capital of Kutch. The ancient Bhuj city has been witness to many wars and local conflicts and contains reminiscents of all of them. Today, however, it functions as a significant trade and commercial point of India, while also being a tourist capital.

The city has a hill located on its eastern side, which lends its natural beauty. A fort situated on the ridge further intensifies the historical significance of the scenic Bhuj landscape. Two lakes called Hamirsar and Deshadsar also call the place their home. These lakes lend an ethereal charm to the busy city, while the vibrant markets always catch tourist attention.

While in Bhuj, you can visit places like the Bhujia Fort, Hamirsar lake, Prag Mahal, Aina Mahal, and Sharadbaug Palace. These places will appeal to you, especially if you are looking to spend some time learning about the history of Rajputana and Mughal rulers of India. You can also admire the elaborate architecture of these places or take beautiful pictures overlooking the city.

Bhuj is a fantastic place to shop for traditional Gujarati clothes, meenakari jewelry, local spices, and handicrafts in the Bhuj Haat market. You can also explore the Bharatiya Sanskriti darshan museum or relax at the hill garden. Do not forget to try the sweet and spicy cuisine at local restaurants of the Old City Market for the best culinary tour of Gujarat.

Bhuj experiences a hot desert climate throughout the year. Summers are scorching, while winters make up the perfect time to visit. For a comfortable trip, visit from October to March.
