There are several tourist attractions to visit in the township of Auroville. Some of them are listed below:

1. Matrimandir: Matrimandir, means the "temple of the mother" in Sanskrit. It is one of the most famous tourist attractions in the Auroville township and also one of the relaxing places to visit in Tamil Nadu. The location of the Matrimandir is at the centre of the township in a humongous uncovered area, commonly known as' Peace'. Matrimandir is better known to people as the 'soul of the city' and this monument holds an important significance for the people who practise spiritual Yoga. Apart from this, it is also a centre for individual concentration in silence. 

2. The Pitanga, Arka and Quiet Healing Centres: There are several centres situated inside the Auroville Ashram like the Pitanga, Arka and the Quiet Healing Centre where people can indulge in activities like Yoga and meditation. It helps the tourists to look for inner peace. One must take part in such activists here as it could prove to be a life-changing experience for them. 

3.Youth centre: Youth centre is located at the backside of the Town Hall situated in the Auroville ashram. It is a place where people can come together and build or construct a smooth working community, or just relax. Anyone can go and make an enquiry about the ongoing projects in the centre and can join hands in any activity of their choice. If the person is lucky enough, then they might get an invitation to one of the amazing parties organised by the Youth centre.

4. Auroville beach: Auro beach, the shorter name for the Auroville beach, is located on the right side of the East Coast Road. It is about 12km away from the Ashram but is considered to be a part of the township. Visitors can avail of local transportation to reach the beach. Although Auro beach is one of the most popular beaches in the state of Tamil Nadu, it is devoid of any establishments of food or snacks to the tourists. The Ashram has tried to maintain the serenity of the beach by not changing and hampering the beauty of nature due to human encroachment.

5.  Adishakti: Adishakti, better known as Adishakti Laboratory for Theatre Arts Research, is actually a performing arts group that also gives access to accommodation and lodging facilities to people who are interested to be its part. This place is located on the outskirts of Pondicherry and the theatre group is renowned for its evocative and brilliant performances. People can also witness their performances by purchasing tickets if there are allocated shows during their stay. 

6. Quiet Healing centre: The Quiet Healing centre, better known to locals as Auroville's Health Spa, provides a plethora of services for the visitors that include massages, spa sessions, and various other healing services. These services can help visitors rejuvenate and relax. The centre is located so close to the beach that the tourists can simply turn a beach day into a day of relaxation by visiting here. If they are interested in visiting the Quiet Healing Centre they can also try some spiritual healing procedures.

1. Yoga and meditation: One of the most popular activities that one indulges in when they visit the Auroville ashram is Yoga. There are several trained professionals who help one master the art of Yoga and meditation. There are also several structures that are specially constructed to encourage people to take part in these spiritual activities. The places are namely Pitanga, Arka and the Quiet Healing Centre which cater to all these pursuits. The amazing thing about it is that people from all around the world unite while performing Yoga and meditation here.

2. Fun at the beach: The Auro beach is located at a distance of just 10km from the main gate of the Auroville. This is a place where one can enjoy the beauty of nature through the charming views of the beach. You can truly enjoy some peaceful moments as it is free of any food stalls or vendors. What’s more, there is also a spa centre situated on the beach where you can avail of the services of spiritual methods to relax your bodies along with their minds.

3. Dance and theatre activities: If the tourists are interested in dance and theatre activities then they can get a chance to stay with the dance troop and the theatre troupe named the Adishakti. The troops also perform for the public on a regular basis, hence one can also enjoy their performances if they have a scheduled performance during their stay.

There are many rules and regulations that one needs to follow in the Auroville Ashram but they are less restrictive when it comes to the choice of dresses. The people in Auroville won't mind your outfit as long as you are respectful to the place and choose silence over rowdiness. While roaming around in the township, one can choose to wear a traditional outfit or could also simply go in shorts and a t-shirt. 

Although remember, there are a few places like Matrimandir, Aurobindo Ashram, meditation and yoga centres, and other spiritual institutions where it is better to cover yourself and wear modest clothes to not bring unnecessary negative attention towards you.

The whole Ashram function on the basic principles of Sri Aurobindo. The tourists experience a happy and healthy atmosphere of the Ashram when they visit the place.
