Rajaji Wildlife Sanctuary is nestled in the Shivalik ranges of Himalayas Treks.Rajaji Wildlife Sanctuary area is spread across three districts of Uttarakhand , Haridwar, Pauri Garhwal and Dehradun. In 1983, three sanctuaries, Rajaji, Motichur and Chila, were integrated to form a large protected area to establish Rajaji National Park.The Park shelters around 23 species of mammals, more than 315 species of birds”both migratory and residential”,2 species of turtles and tortoise, 9 species of lizards, 28 species of snakes, 49 species of mammals and fish fauna. This national park is considered to be the North Western limit of Asian elephants.

The Park exhibits Shiwalik Eco-system, and is predominantly covered by the Sal forest, and other forest types are reverine forests, board “leaved mixed forests, scrubland and grassy. While the higher altitude of the hills is dotted with Shiwalik Chir-Pine, the southern margins are covered by low alluvial savannah woodlands.

Ganges glides through the park for a distance of 24 km, also innumerable streams and brooks make this place a highly enchanting natural habitat.

Flora: The main species of plants in the park are the sal, robusta, baki, sain, haldu, bachera, jhingan, kharpat, phauri, bula, badal, tun, gutel, gular, rohini, amaltas, sandan, papal, mahal, chamaror, aonia, kachnar, ber, chilla, bel, and more.

Fauna: Tigers, Wild Cats, Jackals, Sloth Bear, Leopards, Wild Boar, Himalayan yellow throated Marten, Sambar, Cheetal, Barking Deer, Langoor and Ghoral, and more.

Avian-Fauna: Greater Scaup, White-naped Woodpecker, Great Hornbill, Black-bellied Tern, Pallass Fish Eagle, Northern Goshawk, Black-necked Stork, Yellow-billed Blue Magpie, Scaly Thrush, Snowy-browed Flycatcher, Rusty-flanked Treecreeper, Pale-footed Bush Warbler, Tytlers Leaf Warbler, Green Avadavat and Reed Bunting.

Elephant Safari: Riding high on an elephant, one can observe and get up close with the wilderness and its wild and diverse inhabitants. Elephant ride here is an unforgettable experience.

Jeep Safari: These are guided tours. In a short span you can cover the maximum but without missing much. Jeep Safari lets you discover, explore and observe the Indian Wildlife up close in their pristine habitat.

Chandi Devi Mandir: If you are entering the Park from the Haridwar side, a km ahead, you will see the Chandi Devi Temple, which is located on Neel Parvat. To reach the temple, you have to take a ride in a chair car.

Exact Location: Rajaji National Park is located at the foot of the Himalayas, covering three districts of Dehradun, Haridwar and Pauri Garhwal in the state of Uttaranchal.

Area: 820.42 sq. km.

Route: From Delhi, one can board an overnight train to Dehradun or Haridwar. Reaching Dehradun or Haridwar, one can hire a taxi or catch a connecting bus to reach the destination. The nearest airport is in Dehradun, and the nearest railway station is in Rishikesh.

Malsi Deer Park: This mini-zoological park is located 10 km from Dehradun, and on the way to Mussoorie.
