Havelock Island Packages
Reviews by Thrillophilia Destination Experts
Updated as of June 2026
The crown jewel of the Andamans, also known as Swaraj Dweep, Havelock Island tour packages for 5 to 11 days range between INR 18,400 per person and INR 62,600 per person, depending on the accommodation, inclusions, and itinerary you select in your package.
From watching the sunset at Radhanagar Beach to snorkeling over coral reefs at Elephant Beach and paddling through bioluminescent waters after dark, we take care of everything in between. Our destination experts have over 10 years of experience in planning Havelock Island tour packages and building itineraries around how many nights the island actually deserves, which ferry schedules work best for your arrival day, and what your trip should feel like once you get there.
Across 3 to 7 nights on Havelock, and Neil Island if that suits your plan, we help you figure out where to stay, when to take the ferry, how to pace the beaches and activities, and also update you about what the sea conditions mean for your water sports window. Most importantly we tell you about what the trip genuinely costs across budget, mid-range, and premium categories. The difference between a Havelock Island Tour Package that feels rushed and one that feels just right almost always comes down to decisions made at the planning stage, and we would rather work through all of that with you upfront.
Our support does not stop once you book. We match your Port Blair ferry timings to your flight arrival, handle your hotel check-in coordination, and stay reachable through your entire stay across Havelock Island Tour Package and beyond if anything needs sorting on the ground.

What Is Included in a Havelock Island Package
A lot of first-time island travellers book a package and only realise mid-trip what was and wasn’t covered. Knowing these details upfront, especially on a ferry-dependent island trip where timing and logistics matter, makes the whole experience a lot smoother.
Accommodation
Hotel or resort stay on Havelock Island Tour Package for your chosen duration, on a twin-sharing basis. Depending on what you book, this could be a budget-friendly property near Govind Nagar, a comfortable mid-range resort around Vijaynagar, or a premium beach-facing stay closer to Radhanagar. Stays like Hotel Haywizz, All Season Residency, and Radhakrishna Hotel are included in the package. Whether you are on a Havelock Island honeymoon package or travelling with family, all stays come with daily breakfast unless your package clearly states otherwise.
Ferry Transfers
Return ferry tickets between Port Blair and Havelock Island are part of every Havelock Island Tour Package. Operators registered with Thrillophilia run daily services from Phoenix Bay Jetty in Port Blair to Havelock, and the crossing takes roughly 90 minutes. If your package extends to Neil Island, the Havelock to Neil ferry leg is covered too.
Sightseeing and Local Transfers
Getting around the island on your sightseeing days is taken care of as part of the Havelock island itinerary. This typically covers Radhanagar Beach, Elephant Beach, and Kalapathar Beach, with transport arranged through private air-conditioned vehicles or cabs depending on the package tier.
Airport Transfers
Your arrival and departure transfers between Sri Vijaya Puram Airport in Port Blair and your hotel are included. A Thrillophilia representative will be there to receive you at the airport so your first hour in the Andamans is not spent figuring out transport.
24/7 On-Ground Support
Throughout your Havelock tour, a dedicated trip coordinator stays in touch for ferry coordination, stay-related help, and any last-minute changes. On an island trip where a missed ferry can shift the whole day, having someone reachable on ground genuinely matters.
Best Time to Visit Havelock Island
1. October to November (Early Season):
The island reopens after the monsoon and conditions settle quickly. Seas are calm, beaches are uncrowded, and resort rates are noticeably lower than peak season. A good window for travellers who want solid conditions without the December price spike.
2. December to February (Peak Season):
The most popular and most reliable window to visit. Temperatures stay between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius, underwater visibility reaches 15 to 30 metres, and all water activities and ferry services run without disruption. December and January are the busiest and most expensive months. February is the sweet spot, same conditions with fewer crowds and better availability.
3. March to May (Warm Shoulder):
An underrated window for divers and budget travellers. Waters stay clear, visibility remains good, and resort rates drop significantly from March onward. Afternoons get hot so plan activity days with an early start. Late May becomes unpredictable as pre-monsoon showers pick up.
4. June to September (Monsoon):
Heavy rainfall averages 300 to 400 mm per month. Ferry services get delayed, water sports are frequently suspended, and a disrupted day on a short trip can affect the whole plan. Not recommended for first-time travellers or anyone whose trip depends on water activities and reliable island connections.
5. Best overall months:
February and March offer the most balanced combination of good weather, calm seas, excellent underwater visibility, and manageable crowds. If budget is the priority, October to November and March to April both deliver strong conditions at lower prices than peak season.
How to Reach Havelock Island
Havelock Island has no airport. Every traveller reaches it the same way: fly into Port Blair first, then take a ferry. The route is straightforward once you know the logistics, but the ferry leg is where most first-timers get caught off guard if they have not planned ahead.
Step 1: Fly into Port Blair
- The only entry point is Sri Vijaya Puram Airport, which connects to major Indian cities including Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad
- Flight duration is roughly 2 hours from Chennai and Kolkata, and around 3 to 3.5 hours from Delhi and Bengaluru
- If you prefer arriving by sea, passenger ships operate from Chennai, Kolkata, and Vizag to Port Blair. The journey takes 24 to 60 hours depending on the route and vessel, and is a budget-friendly option for travellers who are not short on time
Step 2: Port Blair to Havelock by Ferry
Havelock is located about 57 to 70 km from Port Blair. The ferry crossing takes 90 minutes to 2.5 hours depending on which service you choose.
- Private Ferries (Recommended): Operators connected with Thrillophilia run daily air-conditioned services from Phoenix Bay Jetty and Haddo Wharf. The crossing takes roughly 90 to 120 minutes. These are faster, more comfortable, and better suited for first-time travellers and families. Book online well in advance, particularly for December to February travel when slots fill up weeks ahead
- Government Ferries (Budget option): Slower but significantly cheaper. Departures are from Phoenix Bay Jetty and the crossing takes approximately 2.5 hours. Tickets must be purchased in person at the Marine Jetty counter and availability is limited. A good option for budget travellers who are flexible on timing
Step 3: Arriving at Havelock
- All ferries dock at Havelock Jetty. Taxis, auto-rickshaws, and pre-arranged resort transfers are available from the jetty
- Short trips within the island cost roughly INR 50 to 200 by shared transport. A cab to Radhanagar Beach from the jetty costs between INR 700 and INR 1,000 depending on whether it is shared or private
- Renting a scooter or two-wheeler is the most practical way to get around independently on the island, and rental shops are available close to the jetty
Practical Notes
- Book ferries in advance: Peak season departures sell out fast. Do not assume walk-in availability, especially for morning slots in December and January
- Weather dependency: Ferries can be delayed or cancelled during rough weather and monsoon months. Always build a buffer day into your departure plan rather than booking a tight connection back to Port Blair
- Havelock is 57 to 70 km from Port Blair by sea, which is why the crossing takes as long as it does despite the relatively short distance on a map
- Digital payments including UPI and Google Pay are widely accepted across the island, though carrying backup cash is still advisable as ATMs can run dry during peak season

Havelock or Neil Island or Both: How to Choose
This is one of the most common questions when putting together an Andaman trip, and honestly, there is no single right answer. It really comes down to how many nights you have, what you want from the trip, and whether you are the kind of traveller who wants to settle into one place or keep moving.
1. Choose Havelock if this is your first Andaman trip
- Havelock, officially Swaraj Dweep, is where most first-time Andaman travellers should anchor their trip. The island has proper tourism infrastructure, a good spread of stays across budgets, and the most reliable ferry connections from Port Blair.
- Radhanagar Beach, Elephant Beach, and Kalapathar alone give you enough to fill 3 to 4 nights without the trip ever feeling thin. You do not need to island-hop to have a full, satisfying experience here.
- If you are travelling as a couple and looking at a Havelock island honeymoon package, the resort options here are genuinely good. Beachside stays, privacy, and dining quality on Havelock are things Neil simply cannot compete with at the same level right now.
2. Choose Neil Island if you want a quieter, slower trip
- Neil Island, officially Shaheed Dweep, runs at a completely different pace. Smaller, quieter, and far less touristy. If crowds bother you and you would rather spend a morning cycling between beaches than navigating a busy resort strip, Neil has that quality.
- The island is compact enough to cover on a rented cycle. Sitapur and Laxmanpur beaches are genuinely uncrowded even during peak months, which is something you cannot say about Havelock in December or January.
- That said, Neil works far better as an add-on than as the centerpiece of an Andaman trip. The beach variety, dive infrastructure, and accommodation depth just are not at the same level as Havelock. Most travellers who go to Neil as their only island come back wishing they had more options.
3. Add Neil Island if you have 5 nights or more
- If your Havelock island itinerary already has 3 solid nights locked in and you have the time to extend, one night on Neil is a genuinely good addition. It gives the trip a change of pace without derailing the whole plan.
- Getting from Havelock to Neil takes roughly 45 minutes to 1.5 hours by ferry depending on the operator. This route with fares starting around INR 650 per person. It is a short crossing but a low-frequency one, so do not leave it to the last minute.
- Always check current schedules before you finalise anything. Morning slots on this route during peak season fill up quicker than most people expect, and there are no direct private ferries from Port Blair to Neil, so your sequencing matters.
4. What not to do
- Do not squeeze Havelock into a single night just to make room for Neil. One night on Havelock is not enough to cover the beaches, recover from the ferry, and still do any water activity. You will feel like you passed through rather than actually visited.
- Do not plan both islands in under 5 nights and expect it to feel comfortable. The ferry transitions take up more time than they look like on paper, and arrival days and departure days rarely give you a full day of island time.
- Do not swap Neil in as an alternative to Havelock on a short Havelock tour. They are not interchangeable. Havelock is the primary island for a reason, and Neil works best when it plays the role of a quieter ending to a trip that already has its foundations right.
Best Places to Cover on a Havelock Trip
Havelock island itinerary has more beaches than any short trip can cover, so here is a list of the places to visit in Havelock island that can be explored. One of our verified travellers,
Aditya Mehra who booked the Andaman Delight 6N 7D with Baratang and Mount Harriot package was so satisfied with the beach experience that he mentioned about this in his review, which stated, “Beaches were clean and the ocean views were beautiful. Boat rides between islands were enjoyable and the schedule allowed enough time to relax.”
1. Radhanagar Beach
- The only beach in India to hold both a TIME Magazine Best Beach in Asia title (2004) and a Blue Flag certification, and it genuinely lives up to both.
- Radhanagar beach lets you simply enjoy the serenity of the place. Here you don’t need to rush for the water sports, vendor pushing activities, just 2 km of white sand, calm water, and one of the best sunsets you will see in India.
- The water is safe for swimming, the beach is wide enough to find your own quiet stretch even during peak season, and the walk along the shoreline at low tide is worth waking up early for.
2. Elephant Beach
- The coral reefs start just a few meters from the shore, which means you do not need to be a confident swimmer or a certified diver to have a proper underwater experience here. Snorkeling is accessible to almost everyone.
- Beyond snorkeling, Elephant Beach is the only place on Havelock where you can do sea walking, which is a unique activity where you walk on the ocean floor with an oxygen helmet and is available to non-swimmers as well.
- Scuba diving, jet skiing, parasailing, and glass-bottom boat rides are also available for those who want more.
3. Kalapathar Beach
- Most travellers add Kalapathar beach as an afterthought, and most of them end up saying it was their favourite morning on the island.
- The beach sits on the southeastern coast about 6.5 km from the jetty and looks completely different from anything else on Havelock. Large black volcanic rocks run along a white sand shoreline, and in early morning light the contrast against the turquoise water is the kind of thing that photographs itself.
- There is nothing to do here in the activity sense, which is exactly the point. No water sports, no restaurants, and very few other tourists even in December and January. It is the right place for a sunrise walk before the rest of the day gets busy.
4. Vijaynagar Beach
- Vijaynagar, or Beach No. 5, is the kind of beach that rewards travellers who are staying nearby rather than those driving in just to tick it off a list.
- The beach is long, lined with coconut trees, and the water is shallow and gentle enough for kids and families to spend hours in without worry. It does not have the dramatic setting of Radhanagar or the activity infrastructure of Elephant Beach, but it has a calm, unhurried quality that suits a certain kind of island morning very well.
- Several of Havelock's better mid-range and premium resorts are located here, so choosing Vijaynagar beach as your stay area effectively means the beach is on your doorstep.
5. Neil Island
- Neil Island earns its place on this list only if the Havelock island itinerary already has 4 solid nights in the plan. As a quieter, smaller island about 40 km from Havelock, it works well as a one-night wind-down after the main Havelock stay.
- The beaches at Sitapur and Laxmanpur are genuinely uncrowded, the Neil island is compact enough to explore by cycle, and the overall pace is noticeably slower than Havelock. For travellers who want to ease out of the trip rather than rush back to Port Blair, it is a good last stop.
- The ferry from Havelock to Neil takes roughly 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. Check schedules in advance as this is a lower-frequency route.
6. Lalaji Bay Beach
- One of the more secluded beaches in the Andamans, located on Long Island which is a completely separate island from Havelock. Getting to Lalaji bay beach involves a ferry route via Rangat and a level of planning that goes well beyond a standard Havelock sightseeing day.
- Worth it for travellers who are building a longer, multi-island Andaman circuit and want something genuinely offbeat. Not the right addition to a short Havelock-first trip.
7. Barren Island
- South Asia's only active volcano and one of the most unusual natural sights in the country, but it has no business being in a standard Havelock package.
- Located roughly 140 km northeast of Port Blair, getting to Barren island requires a dedicated full-day or overnight boat expedition that leaves from Port Blair, not from Havelock. Adding it to a short Havelock trip means losing a full island day for a boat ride.
8. Merk Bay Beach
- A remote beach that is only accessible by boat and sits well outside the standard Havelock sightseeing route. The effort involved in getting there is disproportionate to what most travellers are looking for on a short Havelock trip.
- Merk Bay Beach is better suited to travellers who are deliberately building an offbeat or extended Andaman itinerary with extra days to spare.
9. Guitar Island Beach
- Guitar Island is a Neil Island attraction, not a Havelock one. It is a small secluded beach reachable by boat from Neil and makes sense only if Neil Island is already part of your route and you have a genuinely free half-day to fill.
- There is no practical reason to plan to visit Guitar Island beach as part of a Havelock-only trip.
Top Experiences Worth Including on Havelock Island
There are several interesting experiences to be explored in Havelock Island, from diving some of India's best underwater sites to trekking through ancient lava streams and paddling through bioluminescent waters after dark.
- Scuba Diving: 20-plus registered dive sites. Beginners should start Scuba diving at Nemo Reef or Lighthouse with no prior experience. Certified divers access Johnny's Gorge, Dixon's Pinnacle, and The Wall. Best visibility in February and March. One of our verified travellers,Vaibhav Kulkarni who booked the Andaman Family Bliss | Island, Shores & Wonders package was so pleased with the experience that she said “Scuba at Havelock is an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend.”
- Snorkeling and Freediving: Coral reefs start meters from shore at Elephant Beach. Gear and guided sessions for snorkeling and freediving are available through registered operators with Thrillophilia. Not suitable for children under 8
- Island Hopping: Neil Island is the natural extension, 45 minutes to 1.5 hours by ferry. Best as a one-night stay rather than a day trip
- Night Kayaking: 2-hour post-sunset paddle through mangroves with bioluminescent plankton. Best between November and February on moonless nights. No experience needed
- Kayaking: Daytime mangrove kayaking runs 1.5 to 2 hours with a certified guide. No prior experience required
- Stand Up Paddling: Available at calmer beach areas like Vijaynagar. Good for a relaxed free morning on the water
- Elephant Beach Jungle Trek: 2.5 km forest trail to Elephant Beach. Easy, 40 minutes one way
- Ancient Lava Walk: 2 to 2.5 hour guided trek ending at a freshwater pool on a pillow lava riverbed. Medium to hard difficulty
- Waterfall Trek: Short 15-minute jungle hike near Kalapathar to a seasonal freshwater source. Best after rain
- Rainforest Trek: Guided walk through endemic forest covering trees, birds, and wildlife unique to the Andamans
- Bird Trails, Mahua Jungle: Spot Andaman serpent eagle, woodpecker, kingfisher, and barn owl on a guided morning walk
- Breakfast with Birds: Early morning nature experience combining a forest walk and meal in a natural setting
- Tree Walk: 1-hour guided forest walk identifying endemic trees and wildlife. Kid-friendly with a leaf treasure hunt option
- Kalapathar Village Walk: Sunrise walk combining Kalapathar Beach with paddy fields and banana plantations beyond the shoreline
- Radhanagar Beach Sunset: Not an activity but treat it as one. Arrive 30 to 40 minutes before sunset
Common Planning Mistakes Travellers Make
- Ferries to Havelock have limited daily departures and availability can become a genuine issue during peak season. Book your ferry at the same time you confirm your flights and accommodation, not after you land in Port Blair.
- If you wish to travel to Havelock on the same day as your flight, you have to travel for another 3 to 4 hours by sea after landing. This results in exhaustion before the trip has even started, and a delayed flight can cause you to miss your ferry entirely.
- A minimum of 4 nights and 5 days are required to explore Havelock Island in any meaningful way. One night means your arrival day and departure morning are already spoken for, leaving you one rushed day to cover Radhanagar, Elephant Beach, and Kalapathar.
- While Port Blair has a decent number of ATMs, they can be unreliable on Havelock and Neil Island. Many smaller shops, restaurants, and taxi drivers only accept cash. The practical fix is straightforward: withdraw enough cash in Port Blair before you board the ferry.
- Water activities can be cancelled without prior notice due to bad weather conditions. Paying 100 percent of the booking amount in advance means you risk losing your money or waiting months for a refund. The better approach is to hold off on booking water sports until you are on the island, confirm the day before based on conditions, and pay on the spot.
Why Travellers Trust Thrillophilia for Havelock Island Tour Package
Thrillophilia has been planning Andaman trips for over a decade, and Havelock Island packages remain one of the most booked on the platform, and we don’t claim this, the 4.6 rating and the reviews from 7,600+ travellers from 70+ countries states this.
Every itinerary of Havelock Island Tour Packages is built around how the island actually works, with ferry timings, stay locations, and activity sequencing planned in a way that gives each day real shape rather than just filling a schedule. One of our verified travellers, Rohit Ghosh, who booked the Andaman and Nicobar Honeymoon Vacation An Abode For Love Birds package was so satisfied with the experience that he said”Ferry timings, hotel check-ins, transfers all were already clear. We didn’t have to keep calling or checking. Thank you thrillophilia for this amazing trip.”
What keeps travellers coming back is the combination of transparent pricing, customisable plans, and on-ground support that stays active through the entire trip. Whether it is a 4-night couple's stay or a longer family circuit covering Havelock and Neil, the packages are structured to match what the trip actually needs, not a one-size-fits-all itinerary handed to every booking.

Havelock Island Reviews By Departure City

Havelock island Tour faqs
What is the difference between a private and government ferry to Havelock?
Private ferries like Makruzz, Green Ocean, and Coastal Cruise are air-conditioned, faster at roughly 90 minutes, and more comfortable. Government ferries take around 2.5 hours, are significantly cheaper, but tickets must be purchased in person and availability is limited. Most Thrillophilia packages include private ferry transfers.
What is the best time to visit Havelock Island?
The best time to visit is between November and April. February and March offer the most balanced combination of calm seas, excellent underwater visibility, and fewer crowds compared to the December and January peak.
What is included in a standard Havelock Island package?
Most standard packages include accommodation, return ferry transfers between Port Blair and Havelock, daily breakfast, airport transfers, local sightseeing transfers, and 24/7 on-ground support. Lunch, dinner, and water sports are generally not included.
Can the Havelock package be customised?
Yes. Thrillophilia packages can be adjusted for meal preferences, ferry operator, resort category, activity inclusions, and whether Neil Island is part of the route. It is best to confirm customisation requirements at the time of booking.
Is scuba diving included in the package price?
No. Scuba diving is booked separately through registered operators on the island. A beginner Discover Scuba session costs between INR 3,500 and INR 5,000 per person and requires no prior certification or swimming experience.
Is Havelock Island safe for solo travellers?
Yes. Havelock is considered safe for solo travellers. The island is well connected, locals are helpful, and the stretch from the jetty to Kalapathar via Govind Nagar and Vijaynagar has restaurants, shops, and transport options readily available. Renting a two-wheeler is the most practical way to get around independently.
Is Havelock Island suitable for families with children?
Yes. Elephant Beach is accessible for families and snorkeling in shallow water works well for older children. Vijaynagar Beach has gentle, calm water suited for kids. Children under 8 are not permitted to snorkel at Elephant Beach as per operator guidelines, so this is worth checking before planning activities.
Are there ATMs on Havelock Island?
There are ATMs on Havelock but they can run dry during peak season. The reliable practice is to withdraw sufficient cash in Port Blair before boarding the ferry. Many local restaurants, taxi drivers, and smaller shops on the island only accept cash.
Is Neil Island better than Havelock Island?
They serve different purposes. Havelock has more developed infrastructure, better resort options, more water activity operators, and more beach variety. Neil Island is quieter, less crowded, and better suited as a one or two night extension after Havelock rather than a standalone destination for most travellers.
What is the starting price of a Havelock Island tour package on Thrillophilia?
Havelock Island tour packages on Thrillophilia start from INR 18,400 per person for a 5 days and 4 nights plan. The price varies depending on the number of nights, resort category, and whether Neil Island is added to the route.
How do I get to Havelock Island from Port Blair?
Take a ferry from Phoenix Bay Jetty in Port Blair. Private operators registered with Thrillophilia cover the crossing in roughly 90 minutes. Government ferries take around 2.5 hours and are cheaper but must be booked in person at the jetty counter.
What should I not miss on a Havelock Island trip?
The three non-negotiables are Radhanagar Beach at sunset, Elephant Beach for snorkeling, and Kalapathar for sunrise. Beyond these, night kayaking through bioluminescent waters between November and February and a beginner scuba diving session are the two experiences most travellers say they wish they had prioritised earlier in the trip.
