About Chillon Castle
Chillon Castle is one of the most amazing places to visit in Switzerland for its fascinating history and interesting architecture. It is also one of the most visited places in the country for the elaborate structure that comprises about a hundred independent buildings linked with high towers and moats. Initially constructed as a fortress, the castle was later used as a summer home for the Savoy family and finally turned into a prison and arsenal in the subsequent years.
The castle has been built in the Gothic style of architecture with the cellar comprising stout pillars that are a sight to behold. You can also witness a crucifixion scene from the 15th century that is drawn in charcoal on one of the walls in this room. Yet another sight you do not want to miss out on is the Great Hall that was used by the Savoys for large feasts.
