Overview

Pachmarhi has been gifted by many colors and one of them are the many hills covered in green here. Basically a hill station, Pachmarhi is replete with a lot of trekking trails that contain a lot of surprises waiting to be found. Just like the Chauragarh Peak, which is the second highest spot in Pachmarhi.

Factual Information:
Covered in forests and forming many scenic valleys, Chauragarh is the second tallest hill of the area. There is a temple of Chhota Mahadeo on the top which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Out of the many places in Pachmarhi, Chauragarh is considered to be one of the most sacred spots belonging to Lord Shiva. When you climb up to the top, you will find the courtyard of the temple to be filled with tridents or 'Trishuls' which are also a sacred symbol and piece of weaponry that Lord Shiva is always depicted with. 
To reach the temple, there are two ways: the conventional and paved one has about 1250 steps, while the adventurous route takes you through the forests and shrouds of many trees.

The highlight of this activity is the beautiful trek to reach the temple and the experience of seeing the beauty of the nearby region from the very top of the hill.

How To Reach:
Chauragrh is the second highest peak of Pachmarhi region which lies in the Satpura National Park. You can reach this hill station by road from the nearest town of Pipariya, which is well connected to the rest of the state through roads. Pipariya also happens to be the nearest railway head, giving it extra connectivity from the rest of the cities of Madhya Pradesh. The nearest airport that you can find is in Bhopal, from where you can take road transport or a train to reach Pipariya.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Trek to Chauragarh

    8:00 AM: When you arrive at Pachmarhi Bus Stand, you will be greeted by our representatives and treated with a refreshing welcome drink and a warm breakfast.

    9 AM: Briefing about the day and the trek before the beginning of the activity.

    1:30 PM to 2:30 PM: Lunch will be served, post which you are advised to take some rest.

    2:30 PM to 4:30 PM: Get the flavor of the wilderness with a guided jungle trek in the lush green forest. On the way, you will be greeted by a number of streams flowing downhill. Reach the top and spend some time there to enjoy the breathtaking scenery before retracing your steps to the starting point.

    5:00 PM: You will reach the starting point of the trek and continue on to your return journey before bringing the experience to an end.
