About Church of Saint Ildefonso

Inaugurated on 18th July 1739, the church took thirty years to complete and was built on the location of an old chapel. One of the most fascinating features of the church is its facade which has 11,000 classic blue and white azulejo which depict the story of Saint Ildefonso and stories from the Gospels. The church also has beautiful, stained glass windows and two bell towers which have stone crosses and flag poles.

The church has also gone through many modifications over the years and the new one was created by architect Isolino Vaz. The church is also located in a very popular neighborhood in the city and you can explore the streets and find beautiful cafes and restaurants.
