  • Handshake is the most common way to greet someone.

Theme parks and sightseeing


Window of the World is a theme park where you will find dancers perform and find models of many popular structures of the world, like the Eiffle Tower, Buckingham Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, and many other popular monuments of the world. You can find many Western and Eastern site models at this amusement park.

Chinese Folk Culture Village is a theme park in Splendid China. It is a park popular for its architectural heritage. It depicts the ethnic village life of 23 folk villages in China. Each folk village has a museum, entertainment centre, and residence. These are beautifully crafted models which represent the life of these ethnic villages. Do not miss the horse battle show that is the re-enactment of the Genghis Khan attack. The fashion show with delightful costumes is also an amazing view.

Happy Valley has 9 sections on various themes. It has a cartoon city, Adventure Mountains, Shangri-la forest, and many such sites. Also for viewing are many entertainment items that are more than 100 in number and have been imported from various countries in the world. There is also a space shuttle here, a four dimension cinema where you cannot only see and hear, but also feel. A part of this park also has a water park that can be enjoyed with kids and family.


Gardens and temples


Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden has many scenic spots and is a centre for scientific research. This is a site that is a combination of education and sightseeing in one go. There are more than 6000 species of plants at these botanical gardens. There are six major scenic areas within this garden. You can enjoy the view of pavilions and bridges within this garden. Also, there is a Paleontological Museum inside this garden that houses different kinds of fossils.

Surrounding this garden are lush green lawns and landscapes. This garden is surrounded by lake and mountains and provides a beautiful view.

The Hongfa Temple is a Buddhist temple that was built in 1985. It is closer to the Fairy Lake and has a steep cliff closer to it. Chiwan Tiahou is an ancient and sacred temple, popular for its architectural design. Xianhu Fossil Forest is an ancient ruin and a popular site amongst the shutterbugs. Chiwan Old Fort is yet another ancient ruin and a landmark near the city. The Huaxing Temple is yet another religious site.

You can visit the Mission Hills Golf Club, Juhao Golf, and Shenzhen Century Sea View Golf Course to play golf. You can visit many beaches and enjoy beach hiking on these beaches. Dongyong Beach is popular for swimming and sunbathing. Shenzhen Jinshawan Resort has a private beach. The Waterland Resort has pools and clubs. The Golden Bay Beach Resort is great for beach hiking and taking a stroll on the beach. The Sanmen Island Resort has a beautiful beach with breathtaking clear blue waters. The Judiao Beach is good for nature walks and beach hiking.


Parks, gardens, and museums


Mangrove National Park is a small national park. It is popular for bird watching and fishponds. There are also coconut palms here. Wutong Mountain National Park is located at the Wutong Mountain and is a great place for hikers and mountain climbers. This place is popular since the Ming Dynasty. There are two peaks that can be attempted only by advanced hikers. Lianhua Mountain Park or the Lotus Mountain Park is a beautiful bush land with well maintained gardens. You can take a walking trail at the top of the mountain. There are concerts held by the Lotus Lake every Sunday.  Yangtai Mountain Forest Park is a part of the Yantai Mountain and has hot springs. There is also forest park here that has exotic wildlife and you can enjoy nature walks here.

Shenzhen Museum has many popular exhibits like the jade burial suits, and many other items from the Shang Dynasty. It also houses exhibits that depicts the history of the Pearl River and has many ancient relics.


Historical sites


Tomb of the Young Song Emperor is the tomb of the last Emperor of the Southern Song Dynasty. The Dapeng Ancient Fort depicts the history of Ming Dynasty. It was built 1394 and is now restored as a museum.


Shopping malls and dining


You can visit the shopping malls like, MixC Shopping Mall, Hua Qiang Bei, Carrefour, and KingGlory Plaza for clothes and various items. You can visit spas and fine dining restaurant that serve a variety of Chinese cuisine. There are pubs and bars where drinks and beer are served. Most of the restaurants serve traditional regional cuisine of China. There is more to these restaurants than what Mainland China has to offer. The nightlife in this city is bustling. You can visit from any of these clubs and bars. The Base Bar, Ming Tien Coffee Language, Lao Dou Bar, and more pubs offer food and drinks.

You can also shop at the Luohu Commercial City and the Dongmen Shopping Street for gifts, clothes, bags, shoes, accessories, food, and souvenirs.


Fishing sites


This city is also popular for its fishing sites. You can visit the Donghu Fishing and Barbecue Ground which has two ponds for fishing. The Fairy Lake Botanical Garden Fishing Center in the Fairy Lake is yet another fishing spot. Kuichong Reservoir is in a remote mountain area and must be attempted only by advanced adventurers. The Dragon Lake Fishing Club occupies 48 hectares and has a splendid view. This is also a popular fishing spot.
