Citadelle Laferrière

Citadelle Laferriere is a magnificent mountaintop fortress situated on the northern coast of Haiti. It is located top of the mountain Bonnet a L’Eveque. It was built after Haiti gained independence to protect the nation from French invasion due to which it is considered as the symbol of strength. The palace of Sans Souci

Built by Henri Christophe, the palace of Sans Souci is located in the town of Milot, Haiti. Among all the nine palaces built by Henri Christophe, this was the most important one. The palace was partially destroyed by the earthquake that struck the town of Milot in 1842. UNESCO designated the palace of Sans Souci along with Citadelle Laferriere as the world heritage site in 1982.
