Mumbai is famous for its monsoon and it is a over populated city, no one can even think that there is a hidden beauty of nature that is takmak fort. It is peaceful place and the fort is lies near Vasai- Virar, which are 50 km from Mumbai. The trek is not very difficult and can be easily accessible. It took nearly 2 to 3 hrs to reach the summit of mountain. You should have atleast three lit water and some snacks and a good quality trekking shoes.

Takmak is a hidden wonder near Mumbai. It is a perfect place for youngsters living in Mumbai or Pune to visit for the weekend with a group of friends for a trek. We carried a lot of water and food as there is no availability for it on the way. And I would also suggest you to wear good sports shoes and first aid kit, just to be sure. We hired a guide near a temple in Sakwar village for the trek as it is very easy to get lost on the trek. Half way onto the trek, the terrain starts to get steep and rocky which was trecherous. But it was a fantastic trip and we had a blast, the highlite being the view at the end of the trek which we felt to be totally worth the effort

I went with my family and some friends. They treated us properly. The arrangements were minimal but not with much complaints about it. But you be aware of the insects as it is near a remote, silent place with a lot of trees and all. Be there on time also. Some of the people who came by own found the location confusing a little bit.

It is amazing how relaxing and pleasing taking the efforts to climb this summit can be. The views and misty valleys will please you to heart's core and moreover the trek leaders are so jovial that you will not even feel the strain of the trek. Highly recommended!
