Ponte delle Navi Overview

The Ponte delle Navi is a stunning bridge located in Verona along the Adige River. Originally built as a wooden bridge in the late ninth century, it is now covered in terracotta and white stone to better complement the Gothic-style architecture of the nearby San Fermo Basilica. From a distance, the bridge is quite gorgeous, displaying exquisite architecture.

Ponte delle Navi, a mediaeval bridge on the Adige River in Verona, is a piece of architecture. It was made of wood and built in 895 to link Campo Marzo and the neighbourhood of San Fermo. Flood damage caused countless destructions, but it was later repaired to provide a faster link between the Via Postumia and the other bank of the river.

The bridge that we see today was rebuilt using concrete and brick materials to better blend in with the surroundings, especially with the church of San Fermo Maggiore's apses. The newly constructed bridge, which was opened in 1949, is not only aesthetically magnificent but also sturdy because of the materials used in its construction. After sunset, when the sky is illuminated by stars, the bridge appears incredibly impressive. You can take pictures of the bridge to capture its splendour or just stroll along it and take in its peace and beauty
