Know Before You Go
- ID proof is mandatory for each individual guest at the time of booking, and also upon arrival. PAN card will not be considered as a valid address proof.
- Ask for permission before taking photos of locals, and avoid photographing government buildings.
- The local currency is the Moroccan Dirham (MAD). Credit cards are widely accepted in hotels and major restaurants, but carry cash for souks, smaller shops, and rural areas.
- Morocco is a conservative Muslim country. Modest dress is recommended, especially in rural areas and religious sites—cover shoulders and knees. Swimwear is fine at beaches and hotel pools.
- Major cities like Fes and Marrakech are well-connected by trains and roads. Medina areas are pedestrian-only. Be prepared to walk and navigate narrow lanes.
- Tipping is customary. In restaurants, 10% is standard. Guides, drivers, hotel staff, and porters generally expect small tips.
- Islam is the main religion. During Ramadan, some restaurants may be closed during the day, and public eating should be done respectfully.
