About the Kedarnath Winter Trek:
Known for its sanctity and enthralling scenic views, Kedarnath gets a heavy influx of travellers. The holy site of Kedarnath dham can be reached only by trekking through a 16 kilometres long trek, starting from Gaurikund. From Gaurikund, it is a 4 kilometres trek to Jungle Chatti via the Rambara Bridge. This part of Kedarnath temple trek will let you enjoy a lenient trail and will not demand much energy. From Jungle Chatti, the trekkers need to trek another 3 kilometres to reach Bheembali.
This segment of the trek also has a relatively lenient gradient, which can be done with less effort. The trail starts becoming a bit steep for the next 4 kilometres, from Bheem Bali to Linchauli. The Kedarnath winter trek continues with a steeper gradient for another 4 kilometres to reach Kedarnath Base Camp. From here, it is the final 1 kilometre that you have to cover to finally reach Kedarnath Temple.

How to Reach:
By Air: To reach the base camp of Gaurikund by air, the nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport (DED) in Dehradun. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or use local transportation. The distance from Dehradun to Gaurikund is approximately 225 kilometres by road. The journey usually takes around 7 to 8 hours by car.
By Train: Board a train to Rishikesh from Haridwar, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Haldwani, Jaipur, and other nearby major cities.. From Rishikesh, Gaurikund is accessible by road. Doon Express, Rishikesh Express Special, and Hemkunt Express are some regularly operating trains on this route. After reaching Rishikesh, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to cover the remaining distance to Gaurikund, which is around 215 kilometres. The total duration of the journey can vary but generally takes about 8 to 9 hours.
By Bus: Regular bus services of HRTC, URT, and private buses connect major cities to Rishikesh and Rudraprayag. From Rishikesh, you can find buses to Gaurikund. The distance between them is approximately 200 kilometers and the bus journey takes around 8 to 9 hours. From Rudraprayag to Gaurikund, the distance is approximately 75 kilometers and the journey takes around 3 to 4 hours.
