We took our elderly parents to Kashmir for the first time and it planned it perfectly for senior travellers. Comfortable vehicles, no rushed stops, ground floor room in Srinagar. My father sat on the houseboat balcony watching the mountains for an hour without saying a word. Some trips stay with you. This is one of them.

The overall trip felt easy because things were already well arranged. We didn’t have to keep checking plans or worry about local coordination. Ladakh trip through Thrillophilia. The acclimatisation day in Leh — I was not convinced we needed it. I was wrong. By Day 2 one person in our group had a headache bad enough that without that rest day the trip would have ended for him there. The Thrillophilia team had sent a detailed altitude note with medicine recommendations before departure. We had brought everything on the list. That preparation showed. Pangong Lake at 5:30am with no other vehicle in sight. The colour was not what I expected — it shifted from cobalt blue to teal to almost green depending on where the light was coming from. We stayed two hours longer than the plan said.

We visited Kashmir in April from Kolkata and the timing turned out to be perfect.Srinagar had that fresh spring feel pleasant weather during the day, chilly enough in the evenings for a light jacket. The tulip gardens were in full bloom, and Gulmarg still had patches of snow which was enough for us since we wanted the experience without extreme winter conditions. everything was manage smottely

Ladakh was always the trip I was saving for the right time. They made the right time happen. Nubra Valley with the sand dunes and the camels against a backdrop of snow mountains is genuinely amazing. Every road was handled brilliantly by our driver. Khardung La in the clouds felt like driving through another planet.

We visited Kashmir as a family from Hyderabad and it was a beautiful experience for all of us. The weather, snow-covered views and peaceful surroundings felt completely different from what we are used to in the South. Kids enjoyed playing with snow, and we loved the shikara ride as well. Overall, it was a lovely family trip with many happy memories. Kashmir is truly worth visiting at least once.
