Loy Krathong Celebrations in Pattaya

This festival, held annually in Thailand on the full moon night, is one of the most important and popular lunar celebrations after the Songkran Festival. On this day, Thai people release small beautifully decorated floating lanterns with a few coins known as Krathong into rivers, lakes, and ponds.

This is a way for the Thai people to pay respects to water spirits and appease them into bringing good health and prosperity. The act of releasing the lantern symbolises letting go of one’s hatred and bad luck. The lanterns are usually made of coconut shells, banana trunk or bread to feed the fish in the waters.

Alcazar is one of the most famous transvestite shows in the world known for its extravagant glitz and stunning performances. The 70-minute cabaret features around 20 individual dance themes from around the world like Flowers of China, Boogie Wonderland, The World is Not Enough, One Man Woman, etc. The dazzling costumes, use of light & sound, laser projections, and the infectious energy of over 400 performers make it an unforgettable experience. 

Festive Month: The Alcazar Cabaret is held every day at 5:00 pm, 6:30 pm, 8:00 pm, and 9:30 pm at 78/14 Pattaya Second Road, North Pattaya. 

Kaan Show

KAAN is the latest popular offering by the Thai entertainment industry. The 60- minute show combines live cinematic performance, theatrics, music, acrobatics, martial arts, wire-stunts, and dance to create a beautiful semblance of imagination and creativity. Inspired by classic Thai literature, this non-verbal show features fantasy characters that go on a search to find the real world. 

Festive Month: The show is held every day 5:00 pm (except Wednesday) and 7:30 pm at Singha D’luck Cinematic Theatre, 168/8, Moo 12, Thepprasit Road, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chon Buri. 

MAYA Music Festival in Pattaya

About the Festival: Maya Music Festival brings together traditional Thai music with western music to create this very popular celebratory festival. It features two larger than life stages that come alive with international DJs playing Electro House, Trance, and Pop Music and local DJs playing beautiful Thai tunes.

The backdrop and the settings, inspired by mythological god Hanuman, are a work of art in themselves. This festival is an attempt to preserve and promote Thai culture and heritage.   

Festive Month: The festival is held at Oasis Arena, Rama 9, Bangkok. The dates for 2019 are yet to be announced. 

Miss International Queen 2020

About the Festival: As an inclusive city known to acknowledge and mainstream transgender, Pattaya hosts the world’s largest transgender beauty pageant each year. Miss International Queen, now in its 15th year, is open to contestants from all over the world to showcase their talents and more importantly begin to express their personalities. 

The audiences enjoy seeing these beautiful contestants display their wit and beauty in their national costumes, swimsuits, and performances. This pageant, held in March’ 2019, was won by USA’s Gisele Roayle. 

The festival is hosted at the famous Tiffany’s at 464 Moo 9, Pattaya 2nd Road, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonburi.

Festive Month: The dates for the year 2020 are yet to be announced. 

Pattaya Music Festival

About the Festival: Organised by Tourism Authority of Thailand and Pattaya City Hall, this is one of the largest beach music festivals around the world. Apart from the stunning setting on the waters, it is loved for the assortment of music that one can hear.

In addition to local bands like Slot Machine and Buddha Bless, one can see popular bands from countries like Malaysia and Cambodia as well. Visitors can pick up CDs and musical instruments while here. The entry to the festival is free. 

The festival is held at Pattaya Beach, Chon Buri. 

Festive Month: The festival was held on 14th and 15th June in 2019. The dates for 2020 are still to be announced. 

Songkran and the Wan Lai Festival

About the Festival: Songkran is the annual Buddhist festival that commemorates the Thai New Year. The waters literally flow everywhere during this weeklong celebration. What started as a way to pay obeisance to Buddha traditionally, Songkran has converted into a full-fledged water festival.

Visitors can enjoy beauty contests, parades, and even foam parties in this carnival-like atmosphere.Wan Lai means ‘the day which flows’. On this day people flock to the beaches to build sand sculptures and see cultural performances.

Wonderfruit Festival Pattaya

This one of a kind eco-friendly festival in the world celebrates and advocates simple and sustainable living.
