Halasuru Someshwara Temple, Bangalore Overview

This ancient temple is located at Bazaar Street nearby Ulsoor Police Station in Ulsoor and it belongs to the Chola dynasty.  

The temple is dedicated to Lord Someshwara and is said to have gone multiple additions and modifications during the rule of Hiriya Kempe Gowda II and late Vijayanagar dynasty according to art historians. 

The temple features many carvings and pillars and the formation of the temple is shrouded with interesting stories one of which recites that once Kempe Gowda travelled far away from his town while hunting and he took rest napping under a tree where he dreamt that Lord Someshwara asks him to make a temple using the buried treasure at that place.
