    This tour originates from the pink city Jaipur and takes the visitors to Bharatpur, one of the invincible cities of ancient India and the capital of the Jat Kingdom. The tour mainly revolves around the Deeg Palace, which is known for its strong and elegant architectural layouts. Artificially built canals behind the huge impounding walls of the palace offered resistance to the enemy attacks.

    Keoladeo National Park or the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary is also one of the major attractions of Bharatpur. This park once served as the favourite hunting ground of the royal families and was later declared as a national park. Several hundreds of exotic and endangered species of birds can be found in this sanctuary; it is one of the most sought after destinations for the birdwatchers.

    Places to Visit in Bharatpur

    Nestled in the Brij region of Rajasthan, Bharatpur was once considered to be the capital of the Jat kingdom. The city is situated close to the cities of Agra and Mathura. Located at an average elevation of 183 m, Bharatpur is also known as "Lohagarh" and the "Eastern Gateway to Rajasthan".

    While sightseeing in Bharatpur, one can enjoy bird watching migratory and native birds in the well-known tourist attraction of Keoladeo National Park or Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. This heritage city also boasts of several monuments, forts, museums and national parks. The most famous of the lot being the idyllic retreat of Deeg Palace flourished with sparkling fountains and meticulous palaces. The magnificent Lohargarh Fort is another remarkable sight here. It is adorned with huge elephant paintings and hosts other attractions such as the Kishori Mahal, Mahal Khas, Moti Mahal, Kothi Khas, Jawahar Burj, Fateh Burj.

    Amongst other places to visit in Bharatpur, the neighbouring town of Agra has the epic Taj Mahal to boast of as well as the World Heritage Site of Fatehpur Sikri.
