Tikona Fort is a dominant hill fortress of Konkan’s Pawan Maval region. This is Maharashtra’s popular one-day trekking spot. Locally, it is famous by the name Vitandgad. Situated on top of the Tikona peak, this fort has an altitude of 3633 feet from the sea level.

If you take a look at its present-day geography, it resembles a triangle and thus named as Tikona. Rajmachi Fort

MTDC Water Park
MTDC’s Water park is also a resort that offers great views of the Sahyadri range. It is located right next to the water sports center. The water park is also called Karla water park and has a number of slides for children as well as adults to enjoy. It has a dedicated area for rain dance along with a wave pool. 

The water park offers water sport activities such as jet-skiing, paddle boat, motorbike, water scooter which is absolutely safe for enthusiasts of all age groups to indulge in. Visitors to this water park can choose to spend the night at MTDC’s resort for a relaxed experience and may also visit the nature park which is located on the same premises.

Sinhagad Fort

Literally meaning the Lion Fort, Sinhagad Fort is one of the most famous historical places to visit in Pune which is believed to have been built about 2000 years ago. It is getting more beautiful as it is ageing and rain adds more to its beauty. Being at its best, a hot cup of coffee with your loved one amidst the mist surrounding this magnificent heritage in rain would be perfect.

Many trekking lovers also flock the place for an enterprising day to complete a one day trek from the village to the fort. Some notable attractions which you can see inside the fort are Tanaji memorial, the tomb of Rajaram Chhatrapati, a Kali temple, some military stables and a brewery.

Korigad Fort
Snuggled 20 km away from Lonavala in Pune, Korigad Fort is one of the scenic spots showcasing the grandeur of Shivaji’s Legacy. This elegant edifice was built back in the 15th century and is established at a soaring height of 929 meters above the ground. The serenity of the site is maintained with the three elegant temples that are built on the notch of the peak.

From the base point, which is the Peth Shahpur village there’s a staircase of 600 stairs that you need to traverse to reach the fort. At this fort, you can take a deep insight into the lifestyle of Maharaj Shivaji and gape at the intriguing architectural style of the building. The entire display reminds of the Maratha warriors and is surrounded by the colossal ranges.


Ghangad Fort

A 300 years old structure situated near Tamhini Ghat and Mulshi, it is said that Ghangad Fort used to be a prison under the kingdom of Peshwas. And apparently, it was also the watchtower for the city of Pune. Unfortunately, there is not much historical evidence supporting this fact.

However, what the fort is sure to offer is the views for the lush green region from the very top. Ghangad fort is a popular trekking destination amongst residents of Pune, Mumbai, and Nagpur. The trek is a medium to easy level trek which on average takes about an hour to reach the midpoint of the fort.



From here, it does not take more than 30 to 40 minutes to reach the top. This fort is also a great space for camping as there is a lot of open space. Moreover, the fort also houses several other attractions such as the caves, the age-old fortifications, a temple of Goddess Garjai and a water cistern of stone cuts.

Tung Fort

Vikatgad Peb Fort

Vikatgad Peb Fort is located on the Matheran Hill Range, about  2,100 feet above sea level. It is a popular trekking spot for those seeking an adventurous trail. It is continuous to other forts of the Matheran Hill Range along with Malang Gad, Tauli Hill, and Chanderi Fort.

Being close to the major cities of Pune and Mumbai, with a well-connected railway system, attracts trekkers from both the cities, mostly on weekends. Not much is known about the fort, and most of it is in ruins due to a supposed battle that took place in the 19th century.



However, it was a storage for food grains and ammunition and was also visited by the British Captain Dickinson in 1818. The two entrances to the fort are in ruins. There are still traces of the idols of Lord Hanuman within its periphery. The approximate time required to visit all the palaces in the fort is 1 hour.
