Kovalam is Kerala’s most verdant beach town lined by an endless number of coconut trees dotting its landscape. The main stretch, Lighthouse Beach, is touristy with hotels and restaurants built up along the shore, while Hawa Beach to the north is usually crowded. Both beaches boast of some promising surf and they make a good base for ayurvedic treatments and yoga courses.

The Kovalam beach stretches for a distance of 17 km entertaining tourists with local attractions such as the Lighthouse, Hawa beach and Samudra beach. There are a number of places to visit in Kovalam around the beach for tourists to enjoy.

Kovalam's most distinguishing feature is the Vizhinjam Lighthouse, a candy-striped lighthouse at the southern end of the beach where one can view panoramic sights along the coast. A visit to Santhigiri is a splendid experience due to its world-renowned massages and Ayurvedic treatments. For entertainment, guests can also enjoy house boat rides in the beautiful environs or engage in several Yoga and meditation classes conducted at several places in Kovalam.
