About the Activity:
  • If Scuba diving amuses you, never miss this chance to dive into the deep ocean in Samae San island.
  • Get picked up from your hotel at Pattaya at 08:00 AM and meet your instructor at the diving center.
  • Samae San island trips starts at 08:45 AM, enjoy a short drive for 40 minutes in a taxi to Samae San and on the way get a few snapshots of the Buddha Rock.
  • From Samae San pier it is a 20 to 30 min boat ride to the Islands, the boat is a small that can accommodate a maximum of 7 divers at a time.
  • Because Samae San is off the tourist track you very rarely see other divers there so we can basically dive any of the 7 islands we wish to choose. Samae San also has a WW2 ship wreck named the Hardeep which is great for Advanced courses and the PADI Wreck diver specialty
  • The wreck is 60 metres long and the depth starts at 15 metres and the bottom is at 28 metres, witness the coral growth and sea fans. The marine life is a abundant with large Rays, Barracuda, nudibranches and Turtles.
  • Some other Samae San dive sites are Koh Chuang, Shark fin Rock, Koh Chan and Hin Chalam and the depths vary from 5 metres to 40 metres.
  • Indulge in Wreck dive first and then have lunch which is followed by a coral dive or if the current is too strong for the wreck dive, just do 2 coral dives.
  • Get back to land between 03:00 PM and 04:00 PM and go to one of the many Pattaya watering holes for cold beverages and have a relishing chat about the day.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    1. What am I going to learn during my Scuba Diving course?

During the first phase of your scuba lessons, you'll learn the basic principles of scuba diving such as; What to consider when planning dives, How to choose the right scuba gear for you and most importantly Underwater signals and other diving procedures. You'll also watch videos that preview the scuba skills you'll practice in a swimming pool or pool-like environment. In addition to the video, your instructor will demonstrate each skill for you.

    2. How old do I have to be to scuba dive?

Anyone aged 10 and older (there are options for ages 8-10 as well), with a reasonable level of physical fitness, comfortable in the water with a basic knowledge of swimming can scuba dive. There is no upper age limit for divers, although people suffering from lung ailments or other chronic illnesses are asked not to take part in this activity.

    3. How long does it take to become a certified diver?

PADI courses are performance based, which means that you earn your certification when you demonstrate that you’ve mastered the required skills and knowledge. Some learn faster than others and hence course duration varies. The PADI Open Water Diver course can be completed in as little as three days or can take up to a week.

    4. How old do I have to be to become a certified diver?

You must be at least 10 years old to receive a Junior Open Water Diver Certification. 10 and 11 year old Junior Open Water Divers must dive with a certified parent, guardian or PADI Professional to a maximum depth of 12 meters/40 feet. 12 to 14 year olds must dive with a certified adult. At age 15, the junior certification upgrades to a regular Open Water Diver certification.

    5. Is scuba diving dangerous and what are the safety measures taken?

No, but there are potential hazards, which is why you need proper training and certification. Plenty of training and safety measures are implemented along with proper gear and fully functional equipment.

    6. Is there a DON’T checklist I have to follow?

Never drink and dive – Intoxication can put a diver in a compromised position. One being the inability to use common sense, and make rational judgments, especially when it involves safety. Don’t eat a big meal before making your dive – You should wait at least two hours after eating before you make your dive. Diving on a full belly can put you in a dangerous situation. Not only creates the possibility of acquiring cramps, but also possible upchucking in your mouthpiece making it difficult to breathe. Never conceal any serious or chronic medical conditions you know to exist.
