Best Cycling Tours in India

Do you ever feel you are going too fast on a trip to actually not see anything while you travel in India? That’s because you probably are. Indian cities are all about the kind of feelings they give you as you tour the place and there is nothing that will match the experience of touring a place on your cycle. Especially in India, when the very essence of travel is all about seeing and taking in what people of a certain region do every day and the beautiful historical buildings you are to see, combined with the cultures and everyday life of India.

So where can you go and what can you see? You can go cycling at the Divar and Chorao islands in north Goa, take a day tour of Mumbai, Wayanad, Udaipur, New Delhi, Manali, Rishikesh, Puri, Raghurajpur, Mahabalipuram, Agra etc. A great thing about cycling in a new places is that you can see the location on your google map and get going. You can explore the city or town at your own pace, without worrying about having to keep up your speed to match up with a schedule. You can have a list of things you wish to see on a certain day and you can just get going on your cycle. Cycling is fun when it comes to hill stations. It is as much fun to cycle uphill as it is to do the same downhill. A cycle tour of places like Darjeeling, Manali, Kullu, Shimla, Dehradun, Srinagar etc give you a new perspective about life and people.

You can carry your cycle along with you if you are going camping someplace on the mountains. You can then go cycling to nearby places and explore new places and people during your stay at the camp

Fantabulous time spent in the lap of the mountains, our entire cycling group had gone together and we enjoyed immensely. The cycling trip was really difficult at some time but the feel of it was really good. so positivity and cycling through high passes and snow clad peaks was really good. even the camping was good. after a long day of cycling they served us really good food everyday . The group leaders were also very helpful and were able to handle the fairly large group with utmost ease.

Rougher dirt tracks needs to be covered. Along with this we also made some very tough climbs. The descents were gut-wrenching yet interesting. If you think that it is very stressful, the distance we covered were somewhat less. It almost ranged from 40 to 80 km on an average. However, the traversing altitudes were over 4000 m. To be honest, if you are not an avid cycler, this can be really tedious and dangerous too. Also, with the altitude and weather conditions, I felt quite dizzy and easily dehydrated. If you are planning to do this, make sure to have great physical fitness. That all being said, this trip was fruitful.

A memorable trip with my friends. I thought a lot before booking this trip. But my friends told me I had to have good physical fitness to protect myself from the cold and everything else will be fine. Thus I joined the team. There were other tourists also with us. Together we had a good time in an amazing place. Though I like to take photographs, most of the times I forgot to click the pictures because I wanted to enjoy the beauty of Ladakh with my naked eyes. I was asking the guide with us to explain the importance of each location we covered. He has been guiding a hundred teams for last some years, so he knew everything about the location and he even clearly knew when we should camp and when we should stop cycling and all. The team with him was very supportive and helping. Totally, a very good trip.

A great deal of energy and physical fitness is needed to cycle for 14 days continuously and it will not be easy if you are not fond of cycling through difficult plains. We had the maximum fun throughout the trip because we were a team of cyclists. The big challenge was to cross the passes at a high altitude. But nothing to worry, the guides’ team was with us throughout and they helped us by providing water and biscuits in between. A backup vehicle was also there. We camped at some places with a campfire to keep us protected from the severe cold. The best time of our life was happening there.

"Loved the experience! The accommodation is clean and comfortable. The plantation is serene and cycling in those ridges was very satisfying. The organisers are very cordial and friendly and the food is homemade so delicious. After cycling for half a day, you spend the night under the stars, sitting around a bonfire and end the day with a fitful sleep in the tent. A memorable experience and extremely rejuvenating."
