Home to some of the highest motorable passes in the world, Ladakh presents the perfect haven for bikers to test their riding skills. Where at one hand there is the highest motorable pass in the world, Khardung La, there are also the thrilling 21 hairpin bends of Gata loops. Passing through vast plains, snowy mountains, gushing streams and mysterious valleys alike, biking in Ladakh is an adventure that you are unlikely to ever forget!

About the Activity:

Commencing at Chandigarh, this Ladakh bike tour will see you ride the most coveted biked of all- Royal Enfield, through the most sought after landscapes of Ladakh. Passing through the touristy town of Manali, you will be crossing the vibrant villages of Tandi before reaching the vast plains f Sarchu and Moore. Conquering the highest motorable pass of Khardung La thereafter, you will be descending into the gorgeous Nubra Valley, also known as the ‘Valley of Flowers’. All through the route you get to experience the bounty of blessings from various monasteries that dot the towns and villages. Looking at the awe and splendour of the Pangong Tso Lake you will be mesmerized by its rich blue hues!

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Driving from Chandigarh to Manali (via Barmana) (300km)

    Chandigarh, Barmana, Manali

    The adventure of this journey begins as you leave Chandigarh on the pleasant morning at 0600AM and head towards Manali. Taking the road that passes through Barmana, the drive to Manali takes about 12 hours to complete, arriving in Manali at 0600PM. Check-in at the hotel at Manali and relax after a long drive.

  • Day 2 - Riding from Manali to Keylong (via Tandi)

    100km Bike Ride, Receipt of Motorcycles, Ride Begins, Rohtang Pass

    After a fortifying breakfast to prepare you for the first day of the ride ahead, you will depart on the way towards Keylong. Today, you will be introduced to your ride for the tour to Ladakh by bike, The Royal Enfield Thunderbird/ Electra or Classic 350cc. An upgrade to a 500cc bike of the same make, can be availed at an additional cost of 500 INR/Day. Going through Keylong, let the wind run through your hair as you reach Tandi and refuel for the ride ahead. This is highly advised, as it is the last filling station until Leh; overnight in hotel at Keylong.

  • Day 3 - Riding from Keylong to Sarchu (via Jispa)

    130km Bike Ride, Baralach La, Darcha, Bharatpur, Sarchu

     The ride for the day begins as you depart Keylong to go towards Sarchu. Crossing the formidable Baralacha La, which is the third highest motorable pass in the world, you will then take your first halt at Darcha. This pass connects the three regions of Lahaul, Spiti and Ladakh at its peak. Making a stopover at Bharatpur for lunch, you will then take the road to reach the plains of Sarchu, where the night will be spent at a hotel.

  • Day 4 - Riding from Sarchu to Leh

    230km Bike Ride, Gata Loops, Moore Plains

    Begin the morning today by preparing yourself to combat some tough riding on the route to Leh. Navigate the tough 21 loops of Gata, which are hairpin bends on mountain sides and ride through the beautiful Moore Plains to reach Leh; overnight at a hotel in Leh.

  • Day 5 - Leh

    Leisure Day, Local Markets

    Let out a sigh of relief as you replenish your energies today as it is a day of leisure and rest. Get your bikes serviced, if needed and head to the local market if you wish to; retire for the night at your hotel.

  • Day 6 - Riding from Leh to Nubra Valley (via Khardung La)

    135km Bike Ride, Khardung La Pass, Valley of Flowers, Diskit Monastery, Maitreya Buddha, White Sand Dunes, Hunder, Camel Ride

    Today’s day is filled to the brim with thrill and excitement of witnessing something exciting. Rightly so, you will ride on towards Nubra Valley while crossing the Highest Motorable Pass in the World, Khardung La. Witness stunning views of the snowy mountain ranges along the way and Check into our luxurious camps at Nubra Valley after you arrive.

    Catch your breath and visit the Deskit Monastery, which houses the tallest statue of Buddha in Ladakh called the ‘Maitreya Buddha’. You will also see the stark contrast of the silvery sand dunes at Hunder on a double humped camel back ride. Spend the rest of the day at leisure and retire for the night in Nubra Valley.

  • Day 7 - Riding from Nubra Valley to Leh (via Khardung La)

    135km Bike Ride, Return Ride, Evening at Leisure

    After the tough rides that you have endured through the way, this one is relatively easier as you descend downhill to Leh. Once again the marvel of Khardung La beckons you to wondrous sights. Arrive at Leh in the evening and enjoy some leisurely time before dozing off in the hotel at night.

  • Day 8 - Leh

    Local Sightseeing, Shanti Stupa, Sankar Gompa, Leh Palace

    Relish a delicious breakfast in the morning and head out to see the beauties of the primordial town of Leh. Take in the architectural and design marvel of Shanti Stupa, which was built to promote a feeling of peace. Witness the grandeur of Sankar Gompa Monastery whose spires are made from gold and indulge in a spot of royalty at Leh Palace. Relax in the evening and then relax in the comfort of your hotel in Leh.

  • Day 9 - Riding from Leh to Pangong Tso Lake (via Chang La and Tangtse)

    150km Bike Ride, Pangong Tso Lake, Chang La

    Munch on a spot of breakfast at your hotel and head to see one the most gorgeous sights The Pangong Tso Lake. While the lake itself is dreamy and breathtakingly beautiful, the way towards it is no less so! You will be crossing another high altitude pass today- The Chang La- literally meaning the “Pass in the South”. Take in the astounding spectacle of the lake and its azure colours and relax on the shores. Overnight stay will be here itself.

  • Day 10 - Ride from Pangong Tso Lake to Leh (via Tangtse and Chang La)

    150km Bike Ride, Shey Palace, Thiksey Monastery, Market

    Today morning you will be retracing your steps back to Leh. Making a brief stopover at Shey Palace on the way, you will take in the wonder of this 15th century summer residence of the Leh Royalty. You will also witness the spectacle of Thiksey Monastery. Indulge in some shopping for souvenirs and stay for the night in a hotel at Leh.

  • Day 11 - Leh

    Day at Leisure, Sightseeing

    There’s no dearth of places to see in Leh, take in the different sights and colours of the city. Enjoy some lip smacking cuisine of the region and relax for the night in the hotel on this penultimate day of the journey.

  • Day 12 - Departure from Leh

    Onward Flight, Tour Ends Here

    This is it! Today you will turn in your beloved bikes and bid goodbye to your team companions, who have become family! Bid farewell to this exciting expedition and end the ride on a high!
