Shimla State Museum

Baba Bhalku Railway Museum
This museum is your best deal to gain knowledge on the reasons of construction of rail line in Shimla. There are several displays of machines and engines. Shimla Heritage Museum
If you want to get a clear picture about the history and culture of pre-independent Shimla, the Shimla Heritage Museum has to be in your bucket list. You can spot paintings and pictures featuring the important buildings of 18th century Shimla such as the Gaiety Theatre, Barnes Court, Central Hotel and others inside this Shimla museum.

The heritage building dates back to 1910 displaying a beautiful élan of colonial architecture in Shimla town. Popularly recognized as the Gaiety Heritage Cultural Complex, at present it serves as the Municipal Corporation of Shimla after complete renovation of its old structure.
It is one of the Shimla museums whose structure is preserved in its original form as to pay tribute to the pre-independence generation.

Image Art Gallery
Nestled amidst the serene ambiance of a preserved woodland the Image Art Gallery is one of the museums in Shimla which houses rare photographs of varied themes on display. You can explore the glimpses of history, heritage, culture, nature and fine art of Shimla exhibited in various sections of the gallery.
Taking photographs inside the gallery is allowed but use of flashlight is strictly prohibited. Some of the highlighted works you can see inside the Image Art Gallery are Christ Church, ViceRegal Lodge and Chandratal Lake Shimla.
