  • When you travel to Jaisalmer, you think of the desert and the safaris. A few kilometres away from the city, you can spot more than a dozen beautiful, authentic, vibrant and colourful desert camps in Sam sand dunes and that's how you understand that you are finally in the desert. A 30-60 meter tall sand dunes and majestic sunrises and sunsets are some of the unique features which make Sam Sand dunes a famous site to go camping while you are in Jaisalmer. 

    Desert safaris on camel or jeep enable the travellers to traverse the most authentic desert dune site in the entire country. It is situated 45 kilometres west of Jaisalmer city and is the one that you generally see in movies. You can reach the dunes by hiring a cab from the city or driving your own car, once crossed a few kilometres, you will automatically start seeing many eye-catchy camping sites, most of which are situated in a radius of 2 to 3 Kilometers near the dunes. The sunset points can be reached in around 20 to 30 minutes from the campsites. The best time to visit the dunes is during the sunset, around 4 to 7 PM or early morning around 4 to 7 AM. The best way to catch the fiery sunsets or the splendid sunrise is by taking a safari, a camel or a jeep safari can take you there.

    October to March is the best time to visit Jaisalmer or the Sam sand dunes because the place experiences an extreme climatic cycle, where winters can be freezing and summers can be extremely hot. Hence, the best time is to visit is the winter season with a lot of woollens. The gipsy dance performance, the evening folklore, the fire shows etc are mainly conducted for the visitors during winters.     Dangri Desert Safari campsite is located almost 40 KM from the city of Jaisalmer. While each room includes a private bathroom some units also have a sitting area where you can relax. There is an on-site restaurant at the campsite and parking is free. 

    They serve pure vegetarian food, specifically Jain food. The location of the place accentuates the solitude that one expects on a trip away from the mundane.

  • 06Rawla Desert Camp

    Rawla is approved by the department of tourism as a desert resort and it serves as one of the best desert camps in Sam Sand dunes. The eco-friendly and ethnic village concept provides a peaceful, undisturbed and hassle-free experience and It is situated almost 32 km west of Jaisalmer.
