Assumption Cathedral, is one of the most popular and more than 200 year old holy place in Bangkok. It is the focal point of Catholicism in Thailand. This beautiful church is crowned in a notable territory off Charoen Krung Road close to the Chao Phraya River and is worth visiting. Named after the biblical name of the Virgin Mary, Assumption Cathedral is a legendary legacy of French preachers who initially moved to Thailand in the mid1600s. Assumption Cathedral has remained the most important and popular Catholic church in Thailand since the time of its construction. Pope John Paul II visited this place in 1984 which further solidified local’s belief in this holy shrine.
Opening hours: The church is open for visitors during day hours. Services are held in English on Sundays at 10:00 AM, and in Thai at 06:00 AM, 07:30 AM, 08:30 AM and 05:00 PM, as well as on weekdays at 04:00 PM and 05:15 PM.
