Solang Valley is one of the most gorgeous and adventurous places to visit in Manali. It is located between the Solang village and Beas Kund and offers majestic views of glaciers and snow-capped mountains. This dazzling valley is one of the most picturesque sights in Manali and is located at an average altitude of 8,448 ft above sea level. 

Solang Valley is about 9 km from Manali, and your route will give you views of the Kullu Valley and the Beas river below. The Solang Valley trek takes you through pine forests and over rocky trails, and past the ancient villages of Shang and Burua, where you'll get a glimpse of rural Himachali life. 

In winters, the giant slope of Solang valley is fully covered with snow and makes it one of the best skiing destinations in India. You can also enjoy snowmobile, tubing, and other snow activities. Snow melts during the summer months and the ice slopes will turn into the lush green meadows which makes this place perfect for zorbing, ATV ride, paragliding, and horse riding.

How to reach the Solang Valley trek starting point?

You have to report at the camps at Old Manali which is the starting point of the trek and it is around 2 km from Mall Road of Manali. Many local means of transport and private cabs are available from Mall Road to reach Old Manali.

Solang Valley Trek Itinerary

Day 1
Old Manali to Solang Valley (13 kms, 7 to 8 hours)
  • After arriving at the base camp in the old Manali, you go through a small registration process
  • You will visit the Manu Temple to seek blessings before the beginning of the Solang Valley trek
  • Then, the travelers will begin the adventure of the trek to the renowned Solang Valley with packed lunch
  • On the way to the valley, you will be crossing two ancient villages of Shanag and Burua, along the Beas River
  • At the end of the trek, you will finally arrive in the famous valley only to realize why it is so famous. This grand area doubles as a ski resort in the winters, which is also the best time to visit this place
  • Set up camps in the green meadows (or on snow if it is the winters) and spend a night in this wonderful region.
Day 2
Solang Valley to Manali
  • As per the Solang Valley trek package, after breakfast, today, take a few moments to click some amazing pictures of the valley
  • You can then choose to take a bus back from the valley to carry on with your forward journey or choose to stay back to enjoy sports like paragliding, zorbing, and skiing etc.

Know Before You Go for Solang Valley Trek

  • Climatic conditions in the high altitudes vary from the plains; take adequate time to get acclimatized to high altitudes.
  • The management reserves all the right to modify the trek during any emergencies or natural calamities.
  • Consult a physician before undertaking the trek. Carry basic medications and a first-aid kit during the trek.
  • Pay heed to the trek guides and instructors in order to enjoy a safe and sound trek.
  • The Solang Valley trek takes place through an eco-friendly zone; do not encourage littering the local sites or campsites. Travelers littering may be fined.
  • Water is very precious, so conservation is appreciated.
  • Do not encourage trekking during the night unless it is a part of the itinerary and a guide is with you; this might lead to unforeseen mishaps.
