Hoysaleswara Temple

Encompassed by coconut trees and colourful flowers, Hoysaleshwara Temple is one of the most beautiful Mullayanagiri tourist places. The temple is built to honor Lord Shiva and was constructed in the year 1121.

Kappe Chennigaraya Temple

According to the story, Jakanachri was one of the sculptors at the temple who had a son Danakanachri. One day the son came and said to him that the stone was defective. Not recognising his son, Jakanachri said that he would cut his own hand if it was true. To check it, he spread over sandalwood stone over the carving he did. After drying up, some part of the carving remained moist and to their surprise a frog came out. Before his son could stop, Jakanachri had cut his hand by then. Therefore, this temple is also famous as the Frog Temple in Mullayanagiri.

The Gravity Pillar

One of the most intriguing places around Mullayanagiri is the Gravity Pillar. It is located in Chennakesava Temple in Belur. The height of the pillar is 42 feet and often called Mahasthambha or Kartika Deepotsava Stambha. The unique feature of this pillar is that it stands on the ground without a base and fixed on a platform which is built of just a single stone of granite.

It is believed that on the three sides of the pillar, it stands on its weight while on the fourth side there is no support. The Gravity Pillar is one of the most amazing examples of the architecture that was prevalent during the time of Vijayanagara Empire.

Belur Sri Chennakeshava Temple

Veera Narayana Temple

Located in Belakavadi, Veera Narayana Temple is one of the popular religious places around Mullayanagiri that worships the warrior form of Maha Vishnu.
