Rainbow Village is gaining popularity and is slowly becoming one of the trendiest places to visit in Taichung. This is a small settlement which is a short distance away from the city centre. The settlement is famous for its vibrantly painted streets and houses. Originally this village was a settlement for veteran soldiers but with time the area became a major attraction for several developers.

They wanted to destroy the village and build lucrative projects here. But one of the veteran residents, Mr Huang didn’t want to leave his home so he started a project to save the village. He painted the houses one by one with comic characters and animals in bright colors. Now he is 99 years old and the Rainbow village still stands due to his efforts.
