NEHRU GARDEN

The island garden, Nehru Garden, is located in the midst of Lake Fatehsagar, spread across 4.5 acres. This beautiful garden is named after the first Prime Minister of India, Jawahar Lal Nehru. It was inaugurated on 14th November 1967, Nehru Ji’s birthday. This beautiful botanical garden is famous for its scenic location, mesmerising flora and birds, fun boat ride, and stunning views of Sajjangarh Palace and City Palace.

This unique garden has a lovely park with a lily pond, a small zoo for children, and a floating restaurant in the style of a boat. In addition to this, the garden has a water area in the shape of a pyramid that resembles the Brindavan Garden in Mysore.

How To Reach

Nehru Garden is located on an island in Fateh Sagar Lake, so you have to take a motorboat from Fateh Sagar Lake to reach the garden. The shore of Fateh Sagar Lake is approximately 4 km from the city centre. 

1 By Taxi: The most convenient and easy way to reach Nehru Garden is by booking a cab or taxi to Fateh Sagar Lake’s shore and then taking the motorboat to the garden. It is a 10-minute drive from the city centre to the lake.

2 By Car: If you have rented your own car, then you can drive up to Fateh Sagar Lake and take a motorboat to reach the Nehru Garden. 

Best Time To Visit

Nehru Garden in Udaipur is open all year round, every day from 9 AM to 6 PM. There is a nominal entry fee of Rs. 30 for adults and Rs.15 for children (Indian citizens), Rs. 125 for adults and Rs. 60 for children (foreign tourists). 

1 Best Season to Visit: Udaipur city is beautiful in the winter season. The best time to visit Nehru Garden is from September to March. It is breezy and very pleasant to enjoy a good time in the garden during these months.

2 Best Day of the Week: Weekdays are usually peaceful to visit, as the garden is busier with locals as well as tourists during weekends. If you want a peaceful time exploring the garden then the best day to visit is during weekdays.

3 Best Time of the Day: Visit the Nehru Garden in the early morning to enjoy the peace and calm surrounding the island. It is less crowded in the morning and offers you a peaceful experience and ample time to enjoy the garden.
