Nasrid Palaces Overview

Nasrid Palaces are three magnificent royal palaces that were built during the fourteenth century by the Nasrid rulers. They represent the best of Islamic culture and art, through the rooms that are brimming with an extensive collection of historical antiques. The vast reception hall was used to organize many events, such as banquets, dinners, and weddings.

Nasrid Palaces served as the royal residence of the sultans of Granada for centuries. During the thirteenth century, Alhamar, the founder of the Alhambra, began the construction of these palaces. Due to their breathtaking interiors and carefully proportioned internal courtyards, they are known to be the greatest architectural wonders of Granada.

They comprise three parts: Comares Palace, the official residence of the king; Lion Palace, an aesthetically pleasing private area with Sultan's Harem and the Mexuar, which contains one of the most beautiful internal walls of Alhambra. The servant rooms and royal chambers were allocated to the guests during their stay.

Don't miss out on The Mirador de Daraxa, which is beautifully decorated with Arabic verses and offers majestic views of the whole city of Granada. Nasrid Palaces have three entry gates- The Gate of Justice, the Chart Gate, and The Access Pavilion.

The complex features several courtyards and gardens that will transport you to the days of Spanish royalty. There is also a walkway that contains beautiful marble carvings and a series of ornate columns.
