About Palace of Charles V

The Palace of Charles V is located within the Nasrid walled complex of the Alhambra in Granada, Spain. It was commissioned by Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, and built between 1527 and 1957. The palace is square in shape with four loggias on each side and two towers at each corner. The palace is considered one of the most important works of Renaissance architecture in Spain.

The exterior walls are decorated with reliefs by Juan de Maeda, who also designed the frontispiece. The interior is composed of a series of interconnected patios, which are decorated with fountains, sculptures, and Arabic inscriptions. The views from the palace are some of the most stunning in all of Granada.

From the patio, you can see across the city to the Sierra Nevada mountains. On a clear day, you can even see the Mediterranean Sea. This former palace of the Spanish monarchy is now a world heritage site and one of the most popular tourist destinations in Granada.
