Calanques National Park Overview

As the first national park in Europe to be both marine and terrestrial, the Calanques National Park is among the top places to visit in Marseille. The island is known for its beautifully blended island and peri urban features. Covering around 5000 hectares of a majestic land, this national park is visible at a length of 20km on the coastline.

The Calanques National park is a protected marine and terrestrial space on the coast of the Mediterranean, which witnesses the visit of around 3 million people each year. This beautiful location has a history that’s 100000 million years old, its geological settlement features rocks of sedimentary origin. Today, the protected area is home to no less than 80 species of birds that live and roam around the creeks of the national park.
