Located on the banks of the Bhagirathi River in Uttarkashi, the Shakti Temple is a well-known shrine that is dedicated to Goddess Shakti/Durga. The temple is known for a legendary six-meter-high trident(trishul), with a copper button and iron shaft, believed to have been used by the goddess herself. This temple radiates a powerful spiritual aura, especially during the Navratri and daily aartis. Located directly opposite the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, visitors can also touch the trishul and feel its vibration. If you put your entire body force on the trishul, it will not even move, but if you just use one finger, the trishul will start to vibrate.
The Shakti Temple is built in the Himalayan stone style and offers both architectural charm and a serene riverside environment that feels appealing to seekers of divine energy and cultural heritage.
