Koh Phangan weather is divided into three seasons - the wet season that lasts from September to November, the cool and dry season that lasts from December to March, and the hot season are from April to June. January is one of the most happening times of the year to visit the party island of Koh Phangan. The average maximum temperature for January rises to 29 °C in the day and doesn’t fall below 24 °C during the night. The average precipitation in Koh Phangan during January is expected to reach 114.9 mm.

One of the most tempting characters of Koh Phangan Temperature is that it doesn’t differ heavily from one month to another. The days are warm and sunny but not too hot and the nights are pleasant and breezy but not too cold. The temperature of Koh Phangan ranges between 25 °C to 29 °C with the average maximum temperature reaching up to 29 °C during the day.

The rainy season in Koh Phangan starts around June and extends till October. This means that the month of August is equally affected by heavy downpours and periodical thunderstorms. However, the good news is that the average precipitation level is marginally lower during the month at only 71.0 mm. Much like July, the average temperature recorded during the month is 29°C with the average minimum temperature recorded as 25 °C and the average maximum temperature rises to 33°C.

August is also the time when Thailand, especially southern Thai islands such as Phuket and Koh Phangan gear up to celebrate the Hungry Ghost Festival, an important Buddhist and Taoist festival where the popular belief is that the barriers between us and those who have reached the afterlife are raised. Thais take this day as an opportunity to pay homage to their deceased ancestors and loved ones. While at it, don’t forget to enjoy a gala Full Moon Party at the infamous party island of Thailand.

Koh Phangan Weather in September



Though several people claim that December to March is the perfect time to visit Koh Phangan, it must be noted that the dreamy islands are as good throughout the rest of the year. While the average maximum temperature during the day rises to 32 °C, the night temperature drops down to 25°C.

The average precipitation level on the island picks up a bit as compared to at 92.3 °C with rains expected over 20 days in the entire month. A great thing about travelling to Koh Phangan during September is the fact that most schools and colleges reopen during the time, meaning that you get the island mostly to yourself.

Even though the island of Koh Phangan has a wet season from June till November, October and November are two months which see the highest amount of rainfall in this part of the country. The average precipitation spikes to 203.8 mm during the month, however, it is highly unlikely that it will rain the entire day.

Koh Phangan Temperature in October sees more humidity as well but the average maximum temperatures drop to 31 °C in the day. The average minimum temperature is recorded at 24°C. Koh Phangan Weather in November



Officially the wettest month of Koh Phangan, November sees the highest level of rainfall not just here but the entire southern peninsula. With frequent and sometimes violent thunderstorms and heavy downpour, the average precipitation level is recorded at around 261.5 mm. These factors also make November the cheapest month to travel to the island.

The temperature throughout the month is considerably lower compared to the second and third quarter of the year with the average minimum temperature being as low as 24°C and the average highest temperature being 30°C. For lazy travellers, this is probably a great time to soak in as much of the island as possible yet explore around at a slower pace. Koh Phangan Weather in December



The month of December is when the dry season starts to unfold itself. The average precipitation level is still considerably higher at 158.1 mm, but it only rains about 12 to 15 days in the entire month. The temperature is almost the same as November, if not the same.

The days see an average maximum temperature of 30 °C while the average minimum temperature doesn’t go below 24°C. Despite the rain and humidity (82%), with Christmas and New Year festivities around the corner, this is the time when the island of Koh Phangan comes alive with endless beach bars and clubs open for business, hostels and hotels filled with hopeful tourists, and tourist activities widely available across the island.
