Zoo Negara Malaysia Overview

Malaysia's national attraction, Zoo Negara, is a must-see for all nature and animal lovers! It provides a natural retreat with over 5000 specimens from 476 species of mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians, and fish. The zoo's breathtaking animal exhibits and two adorable residents, the giant pandas Liang Liang and Xing Xing, add to its allure. A trip to this incredible location is unquestionably a memorable and educational experience.

The National Zoo of Kuala Lumpur, popularly known as Zoo Negara in Malaysia, covers 110 acres and houses 5137 animals representing 475 different species. The zoo, which opened in November 1963, has evolved into an open zoo with over 90% of its animals living in exhibits that are close to their natural habitats. It is committed to the recreation, conservation, training, education, and research of a diverse range of animal and plant species, including both endangered and exotic.

The most well-known of Zoo Negara's 44 exhibits is the Giant Panda Conservation Center, where visitors may observe a couple of adorable giant pandas. While the Monkey and Lesser Apes exhibit contains gibbons, silver leaf monkeys, and macaques, the Reptile Park contains crocodiles, snakes, terrapins, and tortoises. Bird watchers frequent Lake Birds and Bird Aviary, where they may see cockatoos, macaws, storks, swans, pelicans, and other species. Children's World is popular among young visitors since it has ducks, rabbits, parrots, and many other cute animals.

Three elephants live in Malaysian Elephants, while fruit bats, Malayan tapirs, and mouse deer can be seen in Nocturnal Exhibits. Savannah Walk has zebras, giraffes, ostriches, and white rhinoceroses, while the Mammal Kingdom has cats, raccoons, leopards, and otters, among other animals. The Freshwater Aquarium caters to marine life aficionados and houses a wide variety of fish and invertebrates. Besides the displays, a multi-animal show with macaws, macaques, and sea lions is a must-see experience.
