Jalpaiguri is one of the largest districts situated in the northern part of Bengal. The entire topography of this region is criss crossed with hills, rivers and rivulets. Rivers such as Teesta, Jaldhaka and Sankosh have dotted the landscape with their mystical presence.
The Jalpaiguri district is famous for its beautiful tea gardens, heavy rainfall and rice plantations. Ancient temples like Jatileshwar and Jalpeshwar are popular places to visit here. Likewise, Jainti, Mongpong and Murti offer breathtaking views of the Sikkim Himalayas and Darjeeling from this place. Also, Rupang Valley is an ideal location for trekking here.
The region also has several wildlife sanctuaries, tiger reserves and national parks. Jalpaiguri is well connected through a network of roads. One can travel within the city in cycle rickshaw and even hire a taxi for commuting within the region. There is a railway station known as New Jalpaiguri.
