PICKFORDS HOUSE

This marvelous Georgian townhouse was home to the famous architect Joseph Pickford, from 1734 to 1782. This vintage house tells its visitors the tale of the Enlightenment architect and domestic life in bygone eras.

Pickford’s House is the career showcase and personal residence of famous Georgian architect Joseph Pickford. This beautiful building is tucked away among the charming ancient houses and cobblestone streets of Friar Gate. Pickford’s house is now a museum showcasing elements of 18th – through 20th century domestic life. It highlights the difference between the master and the servant, the magnificence of Georgian construction, and the changes that took place in the house over its 250 year life span.
