Mayflower Museum Overview

On September6, 1620 the Mayflower left Plymouth, England with the Pilgrims and arrived at the present day Plymouth in Massachusetts. The Mayflower museum represents the tale of the Mayflower and the Pilgrims. The model was constructed by Devonport Dockyard in 1969 and has informative and interactive exhibits and a list of all the Pilgrims and their hometowns. With four levels and four centuries to explore, the Mayflower Museum is a voyage through time. Head to the balcony on the top floor to take in the scenic panoramic views of the city. One of the galleries at this museum is The Mayflower Pilgrims Remembered Gallery which displays the story of the pilgrims’ courage in the face of adversity. This gallery traces back to time before the Mayflower set sail in the 1620. Mayflower Pilgrims, Plymouth and Beyond gallery is another attraction here that features a model of the Mayflower ship on a scale of 1:11 inches. 

The exhibition at Mayflower is about the impact of English colonisation on the indigenous communities and reflects on the journey of England through time. This exhibition includes the Turtle Island, created using period objects, maps and music to tell children and young people, the story of emergence of America.
