About Coventry Cathedral

Coventry Cathedral, officially the Cathedral Church of Saint Michael, is the cathedral church where the Bishop of Coventry presides over his Church of England diocese. Coventry, West Midlands, England, is where you'll find the cathedral. Christopher Cocksworth currently serves as bishop, while John Witcombe serves as dean. Three cathedrals have stood in the city over the years. St. Mary's, a former monastery, is the first, and only its foundations survive today. The other, St. Michael's, was a Gothic church built in the 14th century and elevated to cathedral status. It was heavily damaged during World War II and now stands as a charred ruin. The third is the replacement for the original St. Michael's Cathedral, which was constructed just next to it. History buffs and those in need of an emotional boost should definitely check out Coventry Cathedral. The historic cathedral welcomes guests each day at no cost, albeit there is a small fee to ascend the cathedral tower.
