Bhandardara Trek From Mumbai Overview

Trekking Location: Khandas

Start time: 9:30 PM.
End time: 9:00 PM. 
Start Point: Shivajinagar Railway Station, Pune
End Point: Shivajinagar Railway Station, Pune

Bhandardara Trek From Mumbai is a nature lover’s delight. It takes you into the heart of the Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary. While monsoon is the best time to do this trek, it can be done in other seasons too. The route is scenic and thrilling. While in the jungle, you’ll have a variety of birds, langurs and spotted deer for company. If you’re lucky, you might even get to spot a ‘Shekar’ or the Malabar Giant Squirrel. 

In Bhandardara Trek From Mumbai package, you will be meeting with the guide at the starting point till 9:30 PM at the station so that you can board the train to Lonavala. From Lonavala Station, you’ll have to wait for 30 minutes so that you can catch another train towards Karjat. You will reach Karjat late night till 2:30 PM where you will be taking rest for 3 hours on the platform itself. Light bedding is required for this trip. 

At 6:00 AM, you will be gathering at the bus stand to catch a bus to Khandras where you will be having your morning tea and will then start the trek towards Bhimashankar. It is approximately a 5 hour long trek in which you will be served packed breakfast. You will reach Bhimashankar till 12:30 PM where you will be having lunch after which you can visit Bhimashankar Temple if there is some time to spare. The descent will start at 2:00 PM after which you will be taken to the station through public transport and the return journey to Pune will start from 3:30 PM.

  • Day 1 - Meeting Day for Bhandardara Trek From Mumbai

    10:00 PM: Meet the team and leave for Lonavala by Train.

    11:30 PM: Reach Lonavala and wait at the station for 30 Minutes. Catch available train towards Karjat.

  • Day 2 - Bhandardara Trek Day

    02:30 AM: Reach Karjat Railway Station. Take a rest for 3 hours on the platform only. Light bedding for rest is must required.

    06:00 AM: Gather at Bus Stand. Catch the State Transport bus moving towards Khandas.

    06:45 AM: Reach Khandas Village. Morning Tea at Village.

    07:15 AM: Start trek towards Bhimashankar via Ladder way. Have breakfast in the jungle.

    12:30 PM: Reach Bhimashankar.

    01:00 PM: Lunch at Bhimashankar. After Lunch, one can visit Bhimashankar Temple, if time permits.

    02:00 PM: Start a walk towards the bus.

    02:30 PM: Change your clothes on the bus if you want.

    03:30 PM: Start return journey towards Pune.

    05:30 PM: Evening Tea is served.
