Best Maldives Tour Packages for Family

Maldives family packages are planned mainly for 2 adults and 2 children, travelling with a standard package costing around INR 48,521 to INR 2,39,311. It includes flights for a 5-night resort stay with a cost (land only) of INR 24,990 to INR 30,000 per person, depending on resort tier and travel season. Indian passport holders get a free 30-day visa on arrival at Velana International Airport.

There is no pre-approval process, which makes planning simpler with kids. You only need a valid passport, return tickets, and a confirmed hotel booking.

However, the main decision of the Maldives tour packages is choosing between a resort island and a local island. Families with kids under 8 years can stay at resorts like Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, Niyama, or Kandima Maldives.

These places offer kids' club programmes, family villas, a supervised pool, and easier meal plans. On the other hand, families with older kids or tighter budgets can consider local islands like Maafushi or Hulhumale. These stays provide restaurant-based meals, public Bikini Beach access, and day-trip access to private sandbanks and snorkel reefs.

Maldives Visa, Documents and Travel Insurance for Indian Families

Indian families do not require a visa to travel to the Maldives. You get a free 30-day visa on arrival at Velena International Airport. All you need to do is carry a passport with at least six months' validity. You must also show a confirmed return ticket and resort booking at immigration.

Also, the IMUGA Traveller Declaration is mandatory for every traveller in 2026. You must fill it out online within 96 hours before arrival. Every traveller, including infants and children, needs a separate form. Every child must even have their own passport for a Maldives family vacation. You should also carry a copy of a birth certificate for younger kids as a backup. Immigration rarely asks for it, but it helps in edge cases.

Although travel insurance is not mandatory, we recommend that you get one. It becomes useful if luggage is delayed between seaplane or speedboat transfers.

How to Reach the Maldives From India — Flights and Family-Friendly Routing

A family trip to the Maldives from India is straightforward if you choose direct flights. Many families prefer this to reduce travel time with kids. You can take direct flights from Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi, and Hyderabad. Airlines like IndiGo, Air India, Vistara, and Maldivian provide flexible booking options for families on this route. It will take you about 1.5 to 4 hours to travel from India to the Maldives.

Transfers from Male Airport — Seaplane, Speedboat or Domestic Flight + Speedboat

After landing at Velana International Airport in the Maldives, your transfer will be based on your resort location. The speedboats take 20 to 60 minutes and run all day. While seaplanes take 25 to 60 minutes but only operate in daylight, usually until 6 pm. If your flight lands after 5.30 pm, you will need to stay near the airport for one night. This adds about ₹8,000 to ₹15,000 and delays your resort check-in. So, you should try to land before 3 pm to stay on the safe side.

For far resorts, you may take a domestic flight followed by a speedboat. This option works better for late arrivals and has more flexible baggage rules.

Resort Island vs. Local Island: Choosing the Right Family Fit

When planning Maldives family tour packages, most families with young kids prefer resort islands for ease. While local islands work better for budget-friendly travellers.

Resort islands follow a one-island-one-resort setup, which keeps things simple and controlled. Places like Sun Siyam Iru Fushi and Soneva Fushi offer structured kids' club programmes by age. The beaches are monitored, and the lagoons are shallow, which helps with younger children. Food is predictable, and resorts like Bandos and Centara serve reliable Indian vegetarian meals.

On the contrary, local islands like Maafushi and Hulhumale offer a very different experience. You stay in guesthouses and interact with local communities. The costs are much lower, with stays around INR 5,000 to INR 12,000 per night. Also, public ferries and speedboats are cheaper, which reduces the overall trip cost. This setup works better with older kids who can adapt easily.

Refined using customer reviews, it is practical to split the stay. You can spend 3 to 4 nights at a resort for comfort and kids' club time. Then, add 1-2 nights on a local island for a different experience.

Which meal plan is best for a family traveling to the Maldives?

For families with kids, we highly recommend booking an All-Inclusive or Full-Board meal plan. Since resorts are located on private islands, you cannot simply step out to find a local restaurant, and buying food à la carte can quickly blow your budget. An all-inclusive plan covers all three meals, snacks, and beverages, allowing your kids to eat and drink freely without you worrying about the mounting bill.

What healthcare facilities are available on the islands for children?

Most registered mid-range and luxury resort islands in the Maldives have an in-house doctor or a trained medical nurse available 24/7 to handle minor injuries, fevers, or seasickness. For any major medical emergencies, resorts have speedboats or seaplanes on standby to transfer patients to the main hospitals in Malé. However, we strongly advise carrying a basic pediatric medical kit with your child's regular prescriptions, as specific brands may not be available on remote islands.

The all inclusive was marvelous in every sense , the food, the drinks, the quality, the true friendliness of the staff. They scheduled our transfers exactly as requested. The room was ready early and we had complementary breakfast and lunch on the arrival day. The speedboat comfortable and nice. The vegetation all around is lush and shady, the swiming pools are pleasant and relaxed. The smiling staff constantly bring towels and drinks. TGI diving club is really 5 STAR. SNORKELING in the expansive house reef was for us the highlight. Turtles, mantas sharks and for a brilliant finale the night snorkeling excursion with 3 beautiful white tip sha... Read More

This place is more on the quiet side. Mostly couples and very calm throughout. After sunset it gets even more silent, which we actually liked. Villas are modern, clean, and give proper privacy. No disturbance, no crowd feeling anywhere on the island. Food was decent, not extraordinary but good enough for the stay. Breakfast had enough options. Service was smooth. Staff were helpful but not over the top. If you’re expecting a lot of activities, this may feel slow. But if the idea is to just switch off and relax, it works well.

We stayed at Centara Mirage Lagoon Maldives and it turned out to be exactly the kind of holiday we needed. The resort has that family-friendly energy without losing the luxury feel. What stood out most was how easy everything felt once we arrived activities, meals, transfers, all well arranged so we could just settle in and enjoy. The lagoon villas were beautiful, but honestly the simple moments became the best ones watching the water change colors through the day, long breakfasts, and evenings by the beach. The staff were warm and attentive without being overbearing, which made the stay even more comfortable.

Yaar Maldives trip sach mein paradise hai, bilkul no exaggeration! Overwater bungalow was a dream I never thought we'd actually experience. The water colour is so impossibly blue it feels unreal even when you're swimming in it. Bilkul perfect honeymoon package, every detail was thoughtful and romantic. Will come back for our 10th anniversary guaranteed!

Bhai Maldives full paisa vasool resort tha, ekdum luxury at its finest! Snorkelling just steps from our villa revealed the most colourful reef I have ever seen. Sunset dolphin cruise was an unexpected bonus that made the whole trip even more magical. Ekdum attentive staff, anticipating needs before we even expressed them. 10 out of 10 without hesitation!
