Tarout Castle Overview

Tarout Castle is a heritage building  in Dammam that dates back to  5000 BC.. The castles nestles atop a hill in the centre of Tarout Island in the eastern Saudi Arabia. The mediaeval fort at the city's centre is a world-famous attraction. Refresh yourself with locations that have been maintained in the midst of the concrete jungle.

Once a prehistoric fortress, only three tower tops now remain of Tarout Castle. One of the most historically relevant Dammam tourist places, the Tarout Castle dates all the way back to 5,000BC. The Castle ruins dominate the island of the same name, which can be accessed from Damma by a short causeway. Entry to the castle grounds is free, but the best way to explore the area would be to hire a tour guide, who can shed enlightening information on the history of the place.

While visiting Tarout Castle, one can also head out and explore the village around it. One of the oldest islands on the Arabian Gulf, the Tarout Island is home to some exquisite architectures and alleyways, the likeness of which can be found in the best European Castles only.
