Situated at a wondrous height of 2,900m above the sea level, the Bhubhu Pass Trek is an important trail that connects the Chuhar and Lagh valleys of Himachal Pradesh. With moderate difficulty level, the trek to this enthralling pass is filled with numerous fun and excitement. Taking you through scenic forests, alpine ridges, pictorial countryside and gurgling streams, this 5-days trek is an ideal way to reach and discover the stunning beauty of the pass. Also, within the trek, you can enjoy spectacular views of several ranges, snow-capped peaks, and many more local villages.

Bhubhu Pass trek is an enthusiastic one with the ultimate aim as 2900 meters height taking us through the ancient trail between Chuhar and Lagh Valleys. The trail offers us so many significant sights and refreshing visuals of nature including the vast forest areas on one side and rocky terrains on the other. Adventure lovers will surely fall in love with these trails while you cross the Himri Pass from Lagh Valley to the Manali town. Dhaludhar, the mighty ranges in the Himalayas will give you the real thrill on this trek incomparable to any other.

There are moderate trails throughout the trek and a steep gradient at the last stretch of the trek from both sides. Steep slopes are present leading us to Lagh Valley. Devgarh, Dharmed, Hurang etc are the options to stay on the trek.

About the Trek:

Five days of the Bhubhu Pass trekking package starting from Manali will help you overcome the boredom of your work life and mundane routines. The scenic environs with their stunning hills stations and landscapes are promised to keep you rejuvenated throughout the trip. From Manali, you will be trekking to Dalighat in the beginning through narrow valleys of Lugh and let you witness the sudden changes in the landscapes appearing around.

Dak Bungalow you will stay during the trek would expect you to cover all the forest ranges of deodar, oak and walnut before you reach there. But from the Bungalow to Jhingbhan, the routes will be moderate yet exciting with regular climbs through the oak and deodar forests. As you gain altitude, you will come to watch the amazing Indrasan and Deo Tibba peaks.

Dentbhial trek will take you through a ridge and other natural marvels including the marvelous Kangra settlements that are adorned with terraced farmlands and from Dentbhial to Mulling, one will come across the scenic and alpine meadows leading the ways to reach high altitude streams and some of the newer villages in Kangra Valley. Mulling and Barot are the destinations come at the last tail of the trek before you reach Dharamshala. On your way, you can explore some of the quaint little villages of Barot and Bir-Billing; a popular paragliding site.

  • Day 1 - Arrival in Manali

    Leisure Day

    Today, following your arrival in Manali, meet and greet the scenic environs of this stunning hill station and spend the entire day at leisure.

  • Day 2 - Driver from Manali to Dalighat, Trek from Dalighat to Dak Bungalow

    3 Hours Trek, Mall Road, Lug Valley, Western Tragopans

    Today morning, assemble at the Saba Restaurant in Mall Road at around 0830 in the morning and take a downhill drive through the Kullu Valley to reach Dhalpur. The drive will further take you to the narrow valleys of Lug; along this part of your drive, you can witness the sudden change in the landscapes.

    Continuing from Lug Valley, the drive will finally take you to Dhalighat, the starting point of this trek. Here onwards, take a delightful walk through the scenic thickets of deodar, oak, walnut, horse chestnut and cedar to reach the Dak Bungalow; on your way, you can spot the colourful Western Tragopans as well.

  • Day 3 - Trek from Dak Bungalow to Jhingbhan (via Bhubhu Pass/3,000m)

    7 Hours Trek, Bhubhu Pass, Indrasan & Deo Tibba Peaks, Kangra Valley

    Following today's breakfast, start with a climb through the oak and deodar forests. As you start gaining altitude, you can witness and enjoy amazing views of the Indrasan and Deo Tibba peaks. Your arrival at the Bhubu Pass will be marked with your arrival at a sacred Lord Ganesha shrine. From this pass, you can enjoy the most amazing views of the Kangra Valley.

    Continuing from here, a walk along the ridge of a mountain that leads to verdant grasslands and lush thickets. Following this trail, you will finally arrive at Jhingbhan, the destination for the day.

  • Day 4 - Trek from Jhingbhan to Dentbhial

    6 Hours Trek, Small Kangra Villages, Terraced Farmlands

    Today's trek to the campsite in Dentbhial will take you through a ridge and other natural marvels. Along the way, you can feast your eyes on the pictorial views of the small Kangra settlements that are adorned with terraced farmlands.

  • Day 5 - Trek from Dentbhial to Mulling (4 Hours), Drive from Mulling to Dharamshala

    Local Life, Barot Village, Bir-Billing Settlements, Tour Ends Here

    Waking up in the morning, follow the scenic and alpine meadows that will take you through some of the high altitude streams and some of the newer villages in Kangra Valley. While crossing through these villages, glance through the rustic cultures and lifestyle of the locals in a whole new way.

    Descending further, you will finally reach Mulling and then Barot, from where you will be driven towards Dharamshala. On your way, you can explore some of the quaint little villages of Barot and Bir-Billing; a popular paragliding site. With your arrival in Dharamshala, this fun-filled and exciting Bhubhu Pass trek will come to an end.

    Yes, the trek was not that tough one. But at the same time don't just take it as granted. At certain places, you might face a bit of challenge and can also overcome them easily if you follow the instructions of the tour guides properly. It is truly an awesome trek.

    1. What is the best time to go for Bhubhu Pass Trek?

      Early May to June and then from July end to September are the main seasons for doing Bhubhu Pass trek because the days during these months will be warmer and sunny. Also the nights will be cold but not freezing. It is better to avoid trekking in monsoon since heavy rain since there are chances for roads get blocked due to landslides and extreme winter will also be closing the trails reaching the summit.

    2. What is the difficulty level of Bhubhu Pass Trek?

      The difficulty level of Bhubhu Pass Trek is considered to be ranging from easy to moderate since there are gradual climbs through the wilderness and in between the landscapes and green valleys. The routes become tricky at the great heights near the pass only. Also, the rivers and waterfall en route will let you relax well.

    3. What clothing or equipment do we need to carry from our side during this trek?

      Carry jeans or trekking pants, shirts or T shirts, windproof jackets, warm and thick fleece, woolen sweater, thermal inner wear, socks, scarfs, woolen gloves etc as clothing essentials to prevent the spine chilling cold weather at Prashar Lake. Comfortable trekking shoes, lightweight floater or sandals, raincoat, water bottle, caps and hats, sun glasses, torch, medicines, personal toiletries, comfortable backpack bag, waterproof covers or bags etc can be the essential equipment you can carry from your side.

    4. Which type of shoes should I carry on the trek to Bhubhu Pass?

      To take part in Bhubhu Pass trek, it is always better to carry proper trekking shoes because on the way you will find many slippery patches as well as rough roads. To get a good grip, you will need proper trekking shoes since normal sports shoes won’t be comfortable to climb the trails up till the summit.

    5. Can I have liquor or smoke while we're on the trek?

      No. Usually all travel agencies and trekking agencies prohibit the use of alcohol and cigarettes on any type of trek. Since both these activities can let your body dehydrate easily. Then you will find it very difficult to complete the stretches. Alcohol will open the pores in your skin and let the cold get inside and make the body temperature in terms with the temperature outside. But it will finally lead you to feel dehydrated and thirsty. Hence try not to smoke or consume alcohol. Many of the trekking tours will not allow the participants do any such activities during the trek.

    6. How is Bhubhu Pass Trek weather?

      While you trek to Bhubhu Pass, you will be able to experience a moderately cold weather with rainfall at some time. Snow fall can be there during the month of April or September. But from mid-May to June, the weather will be fine with warmer days and cold nights.

    7. Is Diamox advisable?

      Yes, Diamox is an essential medicine to be carried with you to prevent from falling sick due to the change in altitude. Bhubhu Pass trek will take you up to a height of around 9000 feet which is not usual to your daily life and having Diamox handy will help you to avoid the uneasiness happens due to acute mountain sickness. 10-12 tablets should be there with you as each day, you will climb more distances to experience a drastic climatic variations.

    8. How do I get in shape?

      Bhubhu Pass trek is considered to be a moderate trek but it needs a lot of cardio vascular endurance. For making your lungs work properly during the trek and get oxygen intake smooth, then you need to follow some exercises that will help your cardio vascular systems function properly. Start with jogging every day and daily increase the distance and speed. Simple exercises like squats, skipping, swimming will also be perfect for your muscles and flexibility. Stretching exercises can also be of use while perfecting your body to do this trek.

    9. What are washroom/toilet facilities like on the trek?

      There will be separate toilet tents arranged at each campsite for men and women. Depending on the size of the group, the number of toilets varies. Toilet tents will have a deep pit, mound of soil and a shovel to cover it up. All of them usually will be dry toilets where you have to use toilet papers alone. Room freshener will also be provided.

    10. What kind of physical fitness will be required to do Bhubhu Pass Trek?

      Since Bhubhu Pas trek is a moderate trekking expedition, it needs a moderate level of physical fitness with better cardio vascular endurance, strength to climb up the summit through slippery routes and flexibility. To gain the perfect physical fitness to partake in Bhubhu Pass Trek, you can do some short exercises at home, even indoor exercises are fine. Start with jogging for a short distance and gradually, increase the speed and distance. Stretching, skipping, three sets of squats, etc to stretch your muscles which will help you carry the backpack and do the trek easily.
