The Coit Tower, alternatively known as the Coit Memorial Tower is a tower located in Telegraph Hill, San Francisco. This tower was built between 1932 and 1933 in an attempt to beautify the city. It is now in the list of National Register of Historic Places and is 64 metres tall. The locals believe that the tower was built to honour the volunteer firemen who lost their lives in the 5 major fire accidents of San Francisco.

Opened in 1924, the Legion of Honor features European painting, sculpture, and decorative arts, as well as ancient art, graphic arts, and contemporary art.
