Tinsukia is one of the major district hubs in the state of Assam, which is rich in biodiversity and also one of the ace industrial districts in the state.
The district is popular among travellers for its wildlife, which is also one of the prime revenue generating sectors. The most important of them is the Dibru Saikhowa National Park, which is a bird sanctuary that houses nearly 350 different species of birds. It is an absolute paradise for bird watchers as a lot of migratory birds can be witnessed in this park. Another Wild life Sanctuary here is the Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary, which is one of the last remaining wetlands in the state and home to animals like tiger, elephant, hoolock gibbon and clouded leopards.
Apart from the diverse wildlife, Tinsukia is also famous for its tea gardens, and the Margherita town is one of the best tea gardens in the world. It is considered one of the perfect weekend getaways in the district.
Tinsukia is well connected by road and rail and has a national highway, which runs through the town and connects to most big cities around the state. For those who are interested to travel by air, the closest airport is at Dibrugarh, which is about 40 kms from Tinsukia.
