Miao is a quaint little town situated in the Changlang district in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. Miao is located at an approximate distance of 25 kms away from the state of Assam. The main river which flows through this region is the River Noa-dihing. This region is located near the mountain range of the Patkai Bum, which is a prominent part of the Himalayan Mountains.
The prominent towns located in the Miao region are Chowkham and Diyun. The town of Chowkham is one of the most popular tourist destination located in this region. There is a tiger project, known as the Namdapha tiger project which is situated in this region, possess a great population of the various species of tigers. The Namdapha National Park also makes its presence felt as is spread over an area of 1985 sq. km, and boasts tigers, bison, snow leopards, snakes and deers. The other major attractions include a zoo which harbours a great number of species of wild animals and a museum.
Just 25 km ahead of Miao, is situated Deban, which is a hot tourist spot. The cultivation of Jhum is famous in this location. The Miao bazaar is dotted with the presence of the Hindu Temples, which not only look beautiful, but also are considered as a marvel of architecture. The nearest city to this region is the Kharsang.
Miao is a great place for trekking as a number of lean trail lead into the dense forests surrounding the town. Other adventure activities which are prominent near Miao is fishing near the Noa- Dehing river.
Miao is connected to other parts of the country through a well-laid system of roads. The best time to visit the region is during the summer months starting from March and extending up till September.
