The temple belonged to fifty Namboothiri, Kerala Brahmin families. It was a small temple in the village of Tali. The control of the temple was taken by Zamorin when he invaded the territory, executing Namboothiris and the temple trustees. This temple is one of the oldest in Kozhikode, dating back to the 14th century CE.
