Udawattekele Forest Reserve Trekking Overview

Trip Location: Kandy

Get the most out of your visit to the Udawatte Kele Sanctuary by traveling with a private nature guide. Travel via tuk-tuk through the scenic hill country to the sanctuary, located near Kandy Lake. The sanctuary includes three Buddhist forest monasteries and three cave dwellings for Buddhist monks and also acts as a catchment area for the supply of water to the city of Kandy.  Listen to guided commentary tailored to your interests and enjoy the ability to travel at your own pace.

About the tour:
-You will be picked up from your hotel in Kandy and transferred to Udawatta Kele sanctuary for bird watching and nature trekking.
-As you reach there, you will with your nature guide who will give a brief detail of the trail and the forest reserve. Afterward, your nature trail will begin. 
-Udawatte Kele sanctuary is a home of birds like yellow fronted barbet, Layard’s Parakeet, Spot bellied eagle owl, Sri Lankan hanging parrot, Green fronted leaf bird and native three-toed Kingfisher. It is a good location for panoramic photographs of Kandy city and butterflies, mammals that come very close to you. 
-As the tour concludes, you will be dropped off to your hotel.

  • Day 1 -

    6:00 am: You will be picked up from your hotel in Kandy and transferred by tuk-tuk for a bird watching and nature trekking tour at Udawatta Kele sanctuary.

    6:30 am: Before starting the trekking, you will be well informed by your Nature guide regarding the trail and the forest reserve.

    6:45 am: Start the Nature Trail with your guide.

    11:00 am: You will be taken back to your hotel.
