Millennium Bridge

The Gateshead Millennium Bridge is a gorgeous swaying bridge that carries traffic across the River Tyne in a truly original and modern way. Designed for the use of bikes and pedestrians, it connects Gateshead's southern arts district with the city's northern Quayside. Because of its unusually slanted shape, it is commonly known as the "Blinking Eye" or "Winking Eye" of North England, and it is widely regarded as a major architectural achievement of the twentieth century.
