Jamarat Bridge is a pedestrian bridge sited in the city of Mina just east of Mecca. The bridge is one of the holy places which is populated annually by Muslim pilgrims to perform Islamic Hajj. During the ritual named “Stoning of the Devil,” you’ll witness pilgrims striking the Big Jamarah or Al-Jamrah al-Aqaba with seven pebbles. The stoning of the Jamarat represents the spiritual significance of man’s self.

One of the Places to visit in Mecca is the  Jamarat Bridge, a pedestrian bridge in Mina, Saudi Arabia near Mecca. Stroll across the bridge, which was originally constructed in 1963, and expanded several times since. This bridge has significance for Hajj pilgrims and is used by them during the stoning of the devil ritual of the Hajj when pilgrims throw stones at the three jamarat pillars, extending up through three openings in the bridge, from either the ground level or from the bridge.

The bridge got its name “Jamarat”, which is the plural of Jamrah, the Arabic term for each of the pillars involved in the stoning ritual. The literal meaning of Jamrah is a small piece of stone or a pebble. Be careful if you are visiting during the Hajj when the bridge becomes overcrowded with people.
